Siblings July 2017

My children are close. I always say that, I know, but it’s simply true. Yes, they have their moments when I have to play referee but these are pretty rare. Generally speaking they want each other first thing in the morning and play happily together all day when they get the chance to. Anything from board games to Playmobil and Lego to dressing up and making up their own stories to act out. I’m pretty certain that as long as I keep the food and drink coming, I am completely superfluous.

This month has seen Little Man having his settling in sessions at school, something that has been made so easy as he’s familiar with Boo’s school already and she has been brilliant at talking excitedly about Reception, his teacher and all the fun that he will have. I knew she’d do this, but what I hadn’t anticipated was the value of their many games of ‘schools’ that they play regularly as he was so excited to have the register taken, just like when they play at home!

And my favourite sibling moment of the month came when Boo and I were playing Scavenger Hunt last week. After collecting a random pile of items, I asked her to find ‘something that makes her smile’. As we were in the playroom, I expected her to grab a toy or book, but no, she disappeared out of the room only to return a minute later with that favourite item. It was Little Man. I admit it, I teared up! He hadn’t a clue why he’d been brought in and promptly returned to watching Power Rangers, but I loved it!

This is what happens when you point a camera at my kids….

Boo aged 7 years and 9 months old, Little Man aged 4 years and 10 months old. Love them.

  1. Oh I do like the posing – there’s definitely a few power rangers moves coming in there! And what a wonderful unexpected benefit to having a big sister – he must be so excited that all his games have finally become real, now that’s the way to be in love with school before you’ve even started!

  2. I love that Boo grabbed Little Man as her something that made her smile. What a lovely moment that must have been for you – I’d have teared up too. They always look like they have the most wonderful bond in your photos. It’s so lovely when siblings are so close 🙂 #siblingsproject
