Word of the Week 9/1/15

It’s that time again where I sum up my week in a word, and invite others to do the same. It was lovely to see so many people sharing their words last week, both familiar and new, so thank you for all joining in.

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

paper

It had to be, didn’t it?

In case you missed it, this week I launched #BringBackPaper’s 2015 challenges and activities, encouraging ‘me-time’ with paper. Which means I’ve not only spent time getting the word out, but prior to posting on Wednesday I was planning and plotting it all. As ideas struck me, they’ve been scribbled down in my #BringBackPaper notebook and it’s been nice to get some suggestions from others, too. In other paper news, I’m now completing my one-line-a-day diary, I’m onto my second book of the week, I bought yet another writing set at the weekend (it’s an illness, really, I literally can’t not buy one if I see it in the sale), and I’ve had some lovely snail mail, incoming and outgoing. Oh, and with my gorgeous girl now back at school, there’s been plenty of paper coming home in her bag every night, too!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best? Please grab the badge, link up and share.

The Reading Residence

Linky opens at 6.30am Friday, to midnight on Sunday.

  1. Paper is definitely the perfect word of the week for you! Looking forward to joining in with your papery challenges this year as well as with #WotW 🙂

  2. Very appropriate word of the week! I’m super excited about joining in during 2015, I love the prospect of using some of my me time to concentrate on my love for paper.

    Thanks for hosting x

  3. I have to admit if it had been any other word I would have been disappointed. 🙂 Paper definitely sums up the week and I really enjoyed your post all about the #Bringbackpaper. I hope to join in as and when I can. I also use a one line a day book, have done since June now and it’s fab. I actually use it to record 3 positives of my day which I suppose defeats the object a little but it’s really helped me get over the baby blues by remembering 3 things to be happy about my day. #WotW

    1. I never like to disappoint! That’s a lovely way to use the book, really gets you to stop and reflect. It’ll be great to have you joining in, too 🙂

  4. Perfect works of the week. I look forward to your bring back paper things throughout the year, and hopefully will get to join in along the way.
I did see some of your lovely papery goodness, on Instagram this week (I think?) Love the idea of the one line a day diary, may have a look for something like that x

    1. Very possibly, I do like to Instagram pretty stationery! It’s a great thing to do. I’m only just over a week in, and really enjoying doing it 🙂

  5. Oh I do love your writing sets! Used to collect them when I was in my teens, you’ve just inspired me to do it again, though haven’t really purchased any … yet. I do like to collect postcards, especially the ones with an interesting print 😉 Look forward to joining in January’s #bringbackpaper project! x

    1. Pop to the sales!Yes, I like postcards, too, lovely way to cheer someone up. Be lovely to have you involved! x

  6. I think paper is definitely a good word for you. I do love a nice note book, I have several on the go for lists of things to do, ideas, things to write etc. i have been looking more and more at nice notebooks and organisers.
    x

  7. One of my favourite words! I think there is something about January that makes me want to write lots of lists and be organised (well even more than usual). I guess it’s all part of the NY resolutions/new beginnings type feelings xx

    1. Yes! I think you’re absolutely right, and there’s always a new diary and calendar/planner to get going with, too 🙂 x

  8. Great word for you Jocelyn! I love how much you love paper! Personally I have been busy trying to de-clutter which has involved finally taking out huge piles of old birthday and christmas cards and throwing loads away (keeping the more sentimental or prettier ones of course!). I find too much paper can cause tidiness issues but I can’t imagine you ever have that problem – you’re such an organised person! Have a fun weekend Xx

    1. I do love it! Nope, I don’t have untidy paper here, you do know me well! And I’m not great at keeping things like cards. In fact, I took our Christmas cards down on Christmas Eve as they were making me feel cluttered! Have a good one, too x

  9. I love, love, love paper and have so many different types as well. I write every blog post by hand, because I’m old fashioned that way and it is part of my creative process so I have notebooks and filler paper galore! You are right about it being an addiction really and to go along with this addiction is my hoarding of pens and mechanical pencils, not just paper. lol I just have to have lots of colors of pens and a variety of mechanical pencils! HA!

    Wishing you a beautiful week!

    Much Love,
    Lysa xx

    1. Ah, you see though I love paper, I don’t blog on paper. I like to plan on paper, though. Yes, yes, me, too on the pens! Thank you, you, too, Lysa x

  10. I love this word! I have just “rediscovered” paper and bought a gorgeous Cath Kidston diary while we were away and I jot things down every evening. I have also got a separate diary to list my daily 3 good things x

    1. Oh, that would be gorgeous! Nice to list your 3 good things, too, and something special about doing it on pretty paper, I feel 🙂 x

  11. Definitely an appropriate word for you, sounds exciting! You really do love you paper! I got some lovely new notebooks for Christmas from the hubs as he knows how much I love making lists and planning on paper 🙂 I really want to get reading again too just struggling to find the time! Xx

    1. I really do, Caroline! Planning on paper is very satisfying, I do agree. I have to read, it’s my escape and time to switch off. I need it! x

  12. Fantastic #WotW.

I hope to join in with lots of your #BringBackPaper activities in 2015!!

I’ve managed to catchup with #Happymail today. 🙂

    Sa xXx

  13. I must admit although we have lots of paper in the house, it is not the useful or pretty sort that you collect… more the dogeared piles of Hubby’s guitar, computer and who knows whatelse magazines…

  14. Great word of the week.
Takes me back to when I used to have Pen-Pals when I was a kid!
I still make use of paper now though, always scribbling down lists and making notes :). Have a great weekend xx

    1. I love writing to my pen pals, so relaxing and I do enjoy choosing the stationery and then receiving some happy post! Nice to still be using it in some form 🙂 Thanks, you, too x

  15. Great word of the week, wish I could get away with having more pretty paper in here but at the moment it can’t happen…my little girl very nicely drew and painted all over the pages in my favourite planner and all I wanted to do was cry!

    1. Very true! This week it’s gone up a notch, though! Oh, lots of papery fun on the horizon for you then, enjoy! x
