Word of the Week – 7/3/14

Thanks so much for continuing to link up and read! Lovely to see so many regulars back last week, along with a few new faces, too – everyone’s welcome and you can find out more about it here.

So onto my week then, and it has been..

unsettled

Truth be told, this has been the case for a little over a week, but it wasn’t something I could share last week. The Husband found out towards the end of last week that he was being made redundant from the job he’d had since leaving college. Cue much stress, anxiety and panic. Fortunately, he has got another job, and we really hope it will be good. But it’s a huge change for him, and unlike me, he’s really not a fan of change (same job since leaving college remember). So it’s been unsettling for us. Change often is, I think, and this one feels huge. And it’s been worrying and scary. I do know that even though everything feels odd right now and it’s difficult for the Husband, we will be OK. We are all healthy and we are all together, so unsettling though it may be, I am confident that we will find our way back to calm and normality soon.

  1. Wow, bless him! That must have been very stressful! I’m very glad to hear he’s got another job so quickly but can imagine he is nervous and feeling very unsettled! Change can be really hard! But it can also be good, so I hope all works out well for him, and all of you! Xx

  2. What a worry that must have been. I’m so glad to hear that he found another job so quickly. Remember it’s OK for you both to feel a little nervous. This is a big change and it’s normal to feel unsettled. I hope your husband settles into his new role with ease and that this turns out to be the best thing that could have happened for you all x

  3. Wow what a shock for you both! I’m so pleased to hear that your hubby has found a new job so quickly though =] i hope it all goes okay for him. Good luck xx

  4. I’m glad that the first few days have been OK and it will probably take a while for things to feel more settled because it’s a big change. How did the car hunting go?!

    1. Thank you. Not bad, we’ll go out and take a look tomorrow when we’re child-free (because it’s our wedding anniversary – so much fun car-shopping in celebration…!)

  5. Good luck with your husband’s new job! Hopefully it’ll all work out for the best.

Thanks for this linky too.. Am putting my thinking cap on and hopefully joining in! 🙂

  6. Oh no, sorry to hear about yours husbands redundancy, but it’s fantastic that he’s found another job so quickly. Change can be fear of the unknown, but I believe, often it can work out best in the end. Good luck, I hope he likes his new job. x

    1. Yes, not an easy week! Could’ve been worse, though, as at least he does have another job. Thanks very much x

  7. Finally here, joining in the FUN at #wordoftheweek
…WOW! Your husband must be competent and employable… Totally awesome he’s got a new job! I hope it turns into the best job he’s had since college 🙂

    1. Yes, we know it could have been so much worse, and for that we are thankful. Still unsettling, but hoping that’ll pass soon, thank you x

  8. Sounds like a stressful period, but hopefully it won’t take him long to get settled and back into things. But change can be great – empowering, motivating, inspiring. It’s all about the attitude! Although, I love change and get bored very easily, so I would say that!! Hope things are ok for you all xx

  9. Jocelyn, I am so sorry for your husband. Not easy changing jobs when you have not chosen to do so… Good luck to him when he starts the new job. I have just linked to “Word of the Week” for the first time today (not the last time I am sure!). I wrote a post about Jumpy’s allergies and it was one I had been brooding over for months and months… It took so much of my energy just proof-reading it this morning (and not sleeping at the prospect of posting today) that I will switch off for a few hours. I will be commenting on what other bloggers have linked this afternoon. x Mel
