Word of the Week – 25/4/14

Hope everyone’s had a good week, and a lovely Easter? Time is flying and it’ll soon be May – how did that happen? Glad I’ve been stopping and reflecting on each and every week so far, and thank you for continuing to link up. I love reading everyone’s chosen words, and it’s great to see so many familiar linkers, as well as new ones each week. It is a linky, so do please take the time to visit a few other posts if you link up.

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. Come join in! My word of the week this week is: serendipitous ‘occurring or discovered by chance in a happy or beneficial way’

That’s how my week has felt. Much of it wasn’t planned a little over a week ago, and yet as it unfurled, it’s been a happy one. We had no plans for Easter Saturday, but then had a blogging invitation to Hatton Country World, and we had such a lovely time there, which I’ll share with you tomorrow. On Monday, we did have plans, but then Little Man was sick, so we had to change them, and it actually ended up being a fun day, getting a few jobs done, relaxing, watching Frozen (again!) and playing in the garden when he brightened up a little. I’ve also had a few blogging opportunities this week which have popped up and been rather wonderful. It’s still the Easter holidays here, so no preschool for Boo either this week, which has led to a series of play sessions with both children that have just sort of ‘happened’ and they’ve loved them – painting, tuff spot, den-building, crafting, all of which they have adored! The plants order that I placed a couple of weeks ago arrived without warning right at the point where I was pondering what to do with our sunny afternoon yesterday, so we had a fun time out there and we’re now all planted up! And the biggest unexpected and lovely news we’ve had is that the Husband’s new job after his redundancy will now be made permanent, his package improved and he now has a company vehicle – fantastic, though it does kind of make all of that car shopping and purchasing last month rather pointless!

  1. As they say over here in the US you must be feeling awesome with your husband’s new job becoming permanent and having a lovely Easter break. It’s actually lovely reading such a positive and warm post.

  2. Sounds like a fab week! I haven’t been very good about keeping up with my blog reading and commenting this week – life has got in the way – but I will be interested to read about your day out and anything else I’ve missed! X

  3. I love this word. It’s one of my favourites. So beautiful.

Hope your little man is feeling better and congrats to your husband on the permanent job.

    Excellent news x

  4. Sounds like a great week and some great things happening for you and the family. I love the word Serendipity – wasn’t there a song or something in the 80s? I know my aunt had a craft shop called it and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the one from the film in New York. A great word as always!

  5. Serendipitous: one of my favourite words both to say and in what it means!
A lovely post to read and sometimes it’s the everyday, unexpected things that give us the most pleasure when the all fall into place. You’re week sounds lovely and one that has lots of memories to keep! I’ve taken a lot out of your post, and I hope I’ll be using your word for my #WoTW soon!
    xx

  7. I love this word! I sometimes think that Seren is not only named as a ‘star’ but because she was our serendipity.
I am so glad your week was so good to you, and what a fantastic end to it- congratulations to Mr RR!

  8. Brilliant news on the job front! My week has been a bit like this, no real plans on Monday, but then spent a fab day in Shrewsbury. Plans for weekend – then Joe gets chicken pox!
