Word of the Week 23/1/15

It’s that time again where I sum up my week in a word, and invite others to do the same. I do enjoy pausing and thinking back over my week, and looking for an overriding theme. And I thank those of you that take the time to do the same and then link up with me here. It’s a pleasure to have you all.

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

gigglebiz

Little Man’s latest obsession. Are you familiar with this show? For those of you who are, you’re feeling for me right now, aren’t you? For those of you who aren’t aware of it, it’s a CBeebies programme, a ‘comedy’ sketch show for children, featuring Justin of Something Special and Justin’s House fame. Little Man loves it, LOVES it, I tell you. He’ll talk to me about it as he’s drowsily waking up in the morning, he sings it really loudly from his pushchair on the school run, he talks to people about the characters and the hilarious things that they get up to, and yes, he watches it. Why watch any other shows when you can just watch Gigglebiz on repeat, hey? And he’ll get upset if others don’t enjoy it, too, so my poor 18 year-old nephew has been subjected to this, Boo has to watch it far more than she would choose to, and me? I just blank it out now! Fortunately, he’s also really into his painting at the moment, so I manage to lure him away to paint each day, or we simply leave the house! Good job I adore my son…. 😉

Oh, and to give you a better flavour for it, this is the soundtrack to my week…

  1. Oh Jocelyn I really feel for you, I hate that programme! Thankfully so does Monkey he always so says “no not giggle, not giggle” if it comes on! I hope this phase doesn’t last long for you but I guess as long as it makes Little Man happy! Xx

  2. When I first saw the word I thought ‘what? is it and then I quickly read on. Eek. I am currently sitting in front of G watching Phineas & Ferb, which his is new TV love. Sadly Mr H loves it just as much. I think I might leave this one off for a little while as he loves Mr Tumble x

  3. Thank goodness for your ability to block it out.
    That sounds like headache material.
I’m sure the program isn’t bad. It’s just those repetitive theme tunes.
    Yay for painting !
    Sx

  4. Charlie absolutely LOVES Gigglebiz too! He’s asked me to record it for him as its on at teatime and he sits and howls at it!! I have to agree it is funny – I massively dislike Ann Teak! He loves the one that sings around Robin Hood and Nanna Knickerbocker too!! xx

    1. Oh, this week Robin Hood had a spitting frogs incident, which is now Little Man’s favourite TV moment of all time, so any visitors to the house have to watch that one with him! x

  5. Unsurprisingly I’ve never heard of this, so I clicked on the video – I lasted about 3 seconds!! And think perhaps your word this week should be tolerate instead

  6. I feel for you. My son used to love giggle biz, he used to try to repeat the jokes, but he never said them right, so weren’t very funny and we still had to try to laugh. x

  7. Life at the Little Wood

Oh my 3 love GiggleBiz!! Do you know, I almost got nostalgic over Something Special the other day. It just occurred to me that they don’t watch it anymore and I was a little bit sad! It’s just another one of those growing up markers, isn’t it? Enjoy Justin’s antics today! 🙂 xx

  8. Oh yes, I definitely feel for you. Thankfully Jessica finds Gigglebiz a bit hit and miss – sometimes she likes to watch, other times she asks for Teletubbies instead. I’m not sure which is worse…!

  9. Lol! this made me laugh, me and Craig know more Cbeebies songs than the Top 40 music Chart! :-/ the one that sticks in my head are those blooming Balamory tunes “Which colour house are we going too?” now that’s firmly stuck in my head for the rest of the day lol!
    Thanks for Hosting 🙂 xx

  10. Oooh no! I’m pleased to say we do not know this program at all! It’s so hard though when they become so attached to something, because I work T didn’t even start to watch childrens TV shows until he was 2, so we’ve really only had fireman Sam and now batman & spiderman obsessions!

    1. Oh no, sorry! I foolishly allowed my son to glimpse it when I was writing it (it was unintentional as I knew what would happen!) and I then had to play it over and over and over….! x

  12. Oh yes! In fact, my husband loves Gigglebiz. We used to watch it a lot when little T was younger. Now though, she doesn’t watch as much Cbeebies as she used to. Prefers other channels, or a dvd:) #wotw.

  13. My two are not that bothered about Gigglebiz, they have watched it but they aren’t avid fans 😀 I must admit I do find Arfur Sleep the news reader quite funny…

  14. Oh Blimey. My two were born just a few months after your boy — they are 22 month now — and we’re still stuck on Peppa (who, as my dad has pointed out is ‘very polite! Such a lovely girl…’). Haha!

That said, I’m sure it won’t be too long before we are also familiar with this show. For now though, I’m grateful that ‘Gigglebiz’ is not part of my vocabulary!! 🙂 X

  15. Now I’m singing it, I will be singing it as I go to sleep and I will be singing it when I wake up lol. Ethan has a thing for singing Justin’s House whilst jumping on our bed in the morning. Isn’t funny how you learn to blank these shows out in the day?!

  16. Oh no, I now have that theme tune buzzing around in my head!! My children think anything that involves Justin Fletcher is hilarious and also go through phases of Gigglebiz and Justin’s House – both with equally addictive theme tunes!
A lovely, cheery word of the week!
    xx

  17. This is basically where we are with Thomas the Tank Engine right now. And The Little Engine that Could, which I reckon Arthur would watch three times a day given half a chance (which he doesn’t get!). As long as they’re happy, right?!? x

  18. Hahaha we all fans of Gigglebiz in our house (even hubby doesn t mind it!) I think Justin Fletcher must have hypnotic powers as every show he does my kids just love. And did you know he has music CDS out as well, one clever man!
This is my first week linking up so i m looking forward to having a read through the others now as well.

  19. Haha, I just read your word and sighed deeply… I really detest that program. Thankfully Leah doesn’t may too much attention to it and Lewis will watch it if its on but thankfully both have never really taken to it!

  21. Hi Jocelyn, I’ve never heard of GiggleBiz..Lucky me!..I really didn’t enjoy the Teletubbies and would try my best to discourage my two from watching them. Luckily their fascination with them was short lived…I have no idea why!

    Thank you for hosting #WotW.
