Word of the Week 15/12/17

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

What a white week we’ve had here!

It started on Friday morning when we woke to snow flurries, which saw us don our wellies and walk to school, wondering whether it would keep coming down. It didn’t, it slowed down and left us able to drive about again safely. Saturday it was just cold, but snow didn’t disrupt us as we managed to get into Birmingham and visit the Sea Life Centre, and I went off to university for a tutorial. Then Sunday morning came.

So much snow! Little Man hadn’t ever seen enough snow to actually build a snowman, but he has now! It snowed all day long and the kids had fun playing out there, building snowmen, throwing snowballs and sledging down our hill. It was lovely to see them playing, and took the edge off the fact that we were supposed to be getting together with my brother for our annual Muppet Christmas Carol Day (I’m still not entirely over missing that, it’s a tradition!).

As such school was then closed on Monday, and then due to the freezing overnight conditions, it was closed again on Tuesday. Oh how snow disrupts our country!

It did look beautiful and got us all feeling really festive, if a little chilly! I like snow, I’m just not keen on the problems it causes and the way that it lingers around for days making it super slippy out there. But if it’s going to come down, I do think December is the best time for it, when we can pop on Christmas movies and snuggle up inside watching it come down. It has definitely been a week dominated by snow here.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  2. Snow did take over your week. We hardly had any, much to the annoyance of some of the family who were dreaming of snow days. School boiler broke down, but they had to go in wearing warm clothes. I suspect snow would not have stopped the village school opening. New headmistress is very determined. Hope you can find another way to celebrate with your brother. #wotw.

    1. It really did and it’s snowed again today so the roads are chaos. Thanks, we’re thinking a Boxing Day viewing might be the way to go x

  3. I thought the snow was pretty for a couple of hours, and my little Christmas trees that are outside in the garden looked very cool all lit up in it.. come Tuesday morning I’d had enough!

  4. We didn’t get as much snow as the rest of the country, and usually we get so much more than everybody else, Joe was so disappointed but we get our fair share, I am so glad you all enjoyed it, and I LOVE the Muppets Christmas Carole, I remember going to see that at the Cinema. Have an amazing Christmas x
