Word of the Week – 11/4/14

Thank you for continuing to link up! I love reading everyone’s chosen words, and it’s great to see so many familiar linkers, as well as new ones each week. It is a linky, so do please take the time to visit a few other posts if you link up, as that’s only fair.

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. Come join in!

My word of the week this week is:

gardening wotw

I’ve had a busy week all round, with a lovely trip out with my mum at the weekend, a girly afternoon with Boo to the cinema and play dates aplenty, as well as all of the normal work and play, but I think ‘gardening’ stands out most for me this week. Regular readers will know that I’ve been redesigning my garden, and actually taking an interest in gardening, since the end of last summer. Project Garden feels like it’s finally coming together, as we’ve spent a lot of time out there this week (my body is aching so much!) and I’ve ordered a fair few plants and bulbs that’ll be arriving any day now, too. We’ve been landscaping, cutting back piles of ivy, building a fruit patch, mowing, planting bulbs and sewing seeds. It’s getting there, and I will write an update on it all next week so you can see the progress for yourselves. And for me, who hated gardening for 36 years of my life, literally until the past few months, it feels somewhat remarkable to have this as a Word of the Week! I’m loving it all, though, and the children are getting involved, too, which is wonderful to see.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best? Grab the badge, link up and share, and do please take the time to read a few others…

  1. Sounds like a productive week. Hasn’t the weather been lovely too? I’m not big on gardening but I do find it relaxing and good for clearing the head. Look forward to seeing the results of project garden x

  2. Good for you lovely, I’ll look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour soon 🙂 I’ve never been into gardening either, but am determined to grow food so need to convert myself xx

  3. I do enjoy being in the garden. But it’s only been over the past few years that I’ve got passionate about it. Not that I’m any good mind you! Sounds like a good week 🙂

  4. I look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour. We are busy trying to get our garden done too, if only the dog will stop digging things up!

  5. Great word which I hope to use soon too! I was the same before I moved to a house with a large garden that still needs lots and lots of work. It’s amazing how enjoyable gardening can be, despite being hard work too! Looking forward to seeing your results – I think I need some inspiration right now to give me the push I need to get started!

  6. Isn’t it nice when the weather is so good your WotW can be gardening? Love it! We did some gardening too, but I guess it was not the same scale as you as our garden just has… well, a teeny patch (about a square meter, haha!) that can get flowers etc. Just linked! x Mel

  7. This is brilliant Jocelyn, and I’m so excited to see the finished result! And when you’re done, don’t forget that there’s a big chunk of Northern Irish countryside over here for you to get your teeth into 😉 xx

  8. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your garden 🙂
Needing to get out and do bits and pieces in ours – would love a mature, green garden without having to wait for everything to grow!!

  9. I’ve been in the garden this week too. the boys have pots full of flowers and veggies. no room for a veg patch so improvising 🙂 planted lots of sunflowers too. Your project sounds fab.

    1. I hope so. I think you’re right. It’s a first for me, but already getting excited as things are growing and blossoming quite quickly now 🙂

  10. wish i had a garden 🙁 we have a yard with hanging baskets! great for football but not just not very pretty. sounds like you have had a great week #WotW

  11. I do dread gardening but also then get into it and enjoy it… currently I’m putting off mowing the lawn of which I know I will enjoy doing, when I actually drag the hoover out of the shed! Look forward to seeing the end results!

  12. I think I’m saving up a passion for gardening for when I’m old and grey! I just haven’t got it in me right now, but I’m glad you have found this love for it – it must be so satisfying to see your plans coming to fruition. #WotW

    1. It really is. I think the passion could only be ignited in me with a big plan and scheme as it means I’ve lots to do and an end goal. I need that to have any level of patience!

  13. My husband likes gardening but me not so much. I keep thinking that I’ll enjoy it but I’m not quite there yet! Can’t wait to see what you’ve been doing in your garden – it sounds great!
