Word of the Week 7/9/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

This week has seen my son turn 6 years old, the kids returning to school, with me starting to work full time on the blog for the first time. It’s been a big week! As such, I’m going for the word ‘significant’ as though it’s been wonderfully chilled, it does mark a fair few changes.

Little Man had a lovely and very relaxed birthday, he didn’t even want to leave the house all day. He played with his new Lego Dimensions, PS4 games and other new Lego sets. Yes, Lego and the PlayStation dominated! The Husband and Boo went out to collect a McDonald’s for lunch, as he didn’t even want to go out for that! He played football in the garden and roasted marshmallows out there, all birthday requests. He had a great time. Then came the following day, back to school..

Little Man wasn’t keen on returning to school! But then with a summer off and loads of new toys in the house, who can blame him?! Boo was happy to go in and see her friends, and it sounds like they’ve both been enjoying their new routines so far. They’ve both started a new after school club, karate. They have been looking forward to it, and they really enjoyed it. It was lovely to see them both come out from it really excited and it’s nice for them to do something together like this, starting at the same point and learning together irrespective of their ages.

As to my first week of full time work, well that hasn’t gone quite to plan. Our internet connection has been playing up so I couldn’t even get onto the computer for the first couple of days, not the start I’d hoped for! It seems to be OK for now, so fingers crossed that that lasts, it’s been very frustrating.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  1. Glad Little Man had a lovely birthday and that he and Boo are enjoying starting karate together. I did karate as a child and loved it. How frustrating for you to have the internet go down – hope that it was just a one-off and that next week is a little more smooth-sailing on the work front. Thanks for hosting #WotW

  2. I love that the Little Man’s birthday requests were so simple and so happy to hear he enjoyed his day! Hiccups like bad internet connection always happen at the worst time don’t they? Hopefully next week is a bit more productive for you! I’m a big work from home/self-employed fan so I’m look forward to hearing how you get on 🙂

  3. It sounds like little man had a great birthday, I’m not surprised he wanted to stay home with lots of new things to play with. The return to school sounds like it has gone smoothly. Hope your internet troubles are over and you’ve got lots of work done. Have a great weekend x

  4. And who can blame him for staying home with all those lovely toys to play with? Happy belated birthday, Little Man. Frustrating with the internet connection. I work from home and we seem to go through days when it just drops in and out. I always have something I can work on that doesn’t need a connection and save obsessively, but it is frustrating. Good luck with going full time. Exciting times.

    1. This is true, I think we’ll have a quiet weekend at home so he can play. It has been frustrating, though it did mean I got a few other tasks done, so all was fine. Thanks!

  5. Happy birthday little man! 6 sounds so grown up. I am glad that going back to school went smoothly and hopefully your internet connection will not prevent your work next week! x

  6. What a busy week for you! Happy birthday to your wee man. I saw his bday gifts and they all look amazing! And glad that they both love Karate. We are going to hopefully start an after school acitvity as well, cubs!

Thanks for hosting and commenting on my #wotw post.

  7. Aw I am so glad they have both had a great week, its so sad when the holidays are over but great to see them get back into a routine again and see them having fun. I am so glad little man had a fab birthday. I hate it when the wifi goes down, have you tried a local cafe? I go to the gym and work in the lounge when it happens to me x
