Word of the Week 20/7/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

Onto topical matters first, the football. As the World Cup ended, I couldn’t help but feel proud of how our team had played and carried themselves throughout the tournament. Gareth Southgate has proven to be such an inspiring manager, and I’ve loved the #GarethSouthgateWould tweets, so fabulous. This is the first time Little Man and Boo have really got into football, and it was good to see that we played fairly and passionately in each and every game, great role models.

Then looking closer to home, and the kids had their school reports come home this week. I was so proud to read both of them, reading about how kind and well-behaved that they both are. We then went along to parents evening on Monday and it was such a lovely session. For the end of year parents evening, the children go with us and they show us all of the work that they have worked hard on and that they are proud of. It was so lovely doing this with both of them, and as they were both there for the first time, they each got to show one another what they’ve been up to – Boo was such a proud big sister, it was adorable!

And finally, I have to say that I am pretty proud of myself this week. You may have seen that my Open University results came in and I managed to get Distinctions in both of my modules, a truly wonderful way to finish up my degree. I admit, I burst into tears when I saw that! I was just so relieved. I have now accepted my final degree classification, the Upper Second-Class Honours that I was hoping for. It was all worth it in the end. Phew.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  1. Such a perfect word for the week. The England team really did so well. What lovely reports to receive for Boo and Little Man and how lovely that they were so proud of each other too. A huge well done to you as well on finishing your OU degree with such a good result – having followed your progress through your blog it certainly sounds like it was a very well deserved one too. Hope you have a lovely weekend x

  3. Celebratory weekend for your family all round! Well done to the little ones for doing such a good job, and to you for getting such an amazing result for your degree! I have to laugh about the football; before it started I kept saying I didn’t care, but by the last game I was walking around the house singing IT’S COMING HOME! I really got hooked in!

  4. Great word! Well done to Little Man and Boo and a big well done to you! Next up is the anti-climax, you are going to start wondering what to do with yourself now your studies are over. I always have the urge to go for a Masters, but I can’t afford it 🙁
    Thanks for hosting x

    1. Thank you! I know, it feels odd to have no studying at all! They do postgraduate student loans now so you might find it can all be funded, worth a look x
