Win Tickets to ‘What the Ladybird Heard’!

We are big Julia Donaldson fans here, as I imagine most households with young children are. So I am so excited that we’ve been invited along to see What the Ladybird Heard at Birmingham Town Hall, just after Christmas. We’ve yet to tell the kids, so this will be a lovely surprise for them to go along to as the thrills of Christmas die down.

Based on the award-winning children’s book, What the Ladybird Heard will be performed at  the Town Hall from Tuesday 27 December 2016 until Wednesday 11 January 2017, with a specially adapted relaxed and BSL interpreted performance on Sunday 8 January.

Set against the backdrop of Birmingham’s historical Town Hall, audiences are invited to join the woolly sheep, the hairy hog, the fat red hen and the ladybird in this glittering stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ colourful family adventure.

Brought to life by children’s theatre specialists, Kenny Wax Family Entertainment Ltd, this fun filled production is directed by the acclaimed Graham Hubbard and features live instrumental music and original songs, puppetry, plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs.

There’s something so special about the theatre, and the kids are always utterly entranced whenever we have been. The fact that this story is so very familiar to them only makes this better, as I can already imagine Boo reciting away with them. Oh, I cannot wait!!!!

And as the title of this post suggests, I do now have tickets up for grabs so that you can enjoy it too…..

What’s your favourite Julia Donaldson book?

  1. Matthew’s favourite is probably What the Ladybird Heard as it’s the one we’ve read the most! I love The Paper Dolls though, such a sweet story.

  2. Our favourite Julia Donaldson book is The Smartest Giant in Town, although we also love the Acorn Wood lift the flap books.

  3. Such a hard choice as we are big Julia Donaldson fans in my house too but would say it is what the ladybird heard as all 3 of my boys pick it up over and over again! I think this. On helped teach my youngest two boys the animal sounds way earlier than the eldest picked them up from other ways!
