The Train Trip

Little Man is really into his transport at the moment, as many toddlers are. He loves it all, cars, planes, bikes, tractors, and he adores trains. Thomas the Tank Engine and visits to Thomasland fuel his love of them, along with his fabulous Brio tracks. We’ve been on fun trains, you know the small ones at family days out and theme parks and the like, but never a real one. A proper one that actually goes fast and takes us somewhere. Until now…

The Train journey

He LOVED it! As soon as we got on, he had to get out of his pushchair so he could position himself between Boo and Nanny ready for his journey. And he then alternated between looking out the window and nosing around the carriage. Every noise was exciting and when trains whizzed passed us the other way, he was beside himself!

It didn’t really matter where we were going, but we went into Birmingham to the Bull Ring shops, just a 20 minutes train ride away. While there, the kids had a snack stop of a gingerbread-man each, and we had a good look round The Entertainer, Build-A-Bear Workshop, and the Disney Store.

It was a lovely trip for them. I used to work in Brum and commuted daily on the train, but taking the kids and seeing it through fresh eyes made the mundane into the magical. It felt like a perfect day out, and yet it was nothing particularly special at all!

Oh, and while we were in the Disney Store, this happened…

Little Man Yoda

Like I said, perfect day….

  1. We are old hands at trains partly because when H was small my sister lived in the highlands of Scotland so train was the easiest way to get there. H has always enjoyed them though and it looks like you’ll be doing it again.

  2. Aww, how brilliant for him to experience going on a train when he’s still so intrigued by them. Love the hat, hope he enjoyed his day out, looks great in the Yoda Hat. Popping in from Magic Moments.

    1. They were both so excited about going, and were so cute sat there, eager to experience it! I did love that Yoda hat 😉 Thanks x

  3. Lovely, and I love the hat! We have been discovering the joy of buses though little man does love a train ride-though I try and keep him in the pushchair as much as I can-with varying degrees of success! x #magicmoments

  4. All of mine love the train! It’s only 15 minutes into Boston on the train from us, but the kids love every minute of it. Definitely a highlight of our outings 🙂 Love, love, love the last photo! #MagicMoments

    1. It passes by our old flat, too – lots of memories 🙂 And thank you, I do love him in that hat! X
