Tortue de Mer Review & Give-Away

Summer is here, and I’m hoping it will stick around for a little while. With a change in the season, comes a change in the wardrobe, so today I’m talking about French clothing brand Tortue de Mer, who offer lightweight summer wear for the whole family.

Here’s a little bit about how the company came to be:

In May 2006, Isabelle Riaille, from the French Riviera was looking for soft lightweight tops for her baby Lola. She found very little available and what she did find was expensive and only available in blue for boys and pink for girls. Isabelle saw an opportunity and decided to create her own summer wear collection which was both affordable and in a multitude of colours. She called it Tortue de Mer (sea turtle in French) because sea turtles live where Isabelle loves spending her time – in the sea and on the beach relaxing with friends and family.
Isabelle lives in Nice with her British husband and daughter Lola, now 8 years old.

The range is all very summery, fresh and light. For women, they have some lovely long dresses, kaftans and tops, that appeal to me the most. I do like to be nice and cool when temperatures heat up, so these are all to my taste. And then of course there is the childrenswear.

Now I don’t know about your kids, they’re all different of course, but my two get hot and sweaty quite quickly! They don’t seem to feel the cold in the winter, and always need cooling down in the summer, so lightweight summer-wear is perfect for them. Tortue de Mer have a great range of kaftan designs and colours, trousers and dresses.

Boo has been sent a short summer dress, which she simply adores. When I told her that I needed to take some photos of her in it, she recognised the photo shoot opportunity and posed accordingly!

It’s been great for playing in the garden in, and if we manage to get a hot day at the seaside in, I can see this being just perfect over her swimming costume there.  As it is short, as well as wearing it as a dress, she also wears it over leggings, jeans and shorts, which I think looks so pretty and I can see it lasting her for a few growth spurts and summers by wearing it that way. From a fabric care point of view, it washes well and needs little ironing – my kind of clothing! And to give you a feel for sizing, Boo’s wearing a size XL here, and is a tall 5 year old. She absolutely loves it, as ‘it’s so pretty and cool when I’m sweaty’. Well there you go, ticks all the boxes!

I do now have a girls short summer dress to give away, the same as pictured with the winner being able to choose the size that they want. To be in with a chance of winning it, enter using the rafflecopter below. Give away is open to UK entrants only, and closes at 12am 19th July 2015. Good luck!

  1. I love white summer dresses/blouses/tops for little girls, which isn’t exactly practical especially when they wear it all day and then look really grubby in the end. That said, it still doesn’t stop me from buying them for T 🙂 Little Boo, btw looks lovely in that white dress!

  2. I’m trying to figure out if I’d be able to wear the cotton voile trouser in black to work. They look so comfortable.
