Well, here we are going into the final week of this month’s Theme Game – it’s come round quickly! So, all to play for, with that gorgeous handmade bracelet up for grabs 🙂
Last week, I so enjoyed reading ‘cake’ posts! They were all great, but Iona at Redpeffer and I had to choose a winner, and it is… My Beautiful Three – well done! And our two worthy runners up are Virtually All Sorts and And Baby Makes Three – congratulations. So it looks like our front runners going into the final week are And Then The Fun Began and Mummy Says, though it’s very close and all to play for! Remember, you’ll have 1 point for each week you entered, 2 if you were a runner up, and 3 for weekly winners.
So, onto this week’s theme, and it’s all about ‘holidays‘..
Holidays have changed somewhat since having children. This was our last holiday before Boo…
We flew out to LA, spent a few days in Santa Monica, then drove to Las Vegas (we’ve been several times, and I just love it there!) then onto Palm Springs, San Diego, and finally the OC, before flying back out from LA. It was good. It was sunny, we stayed in luxury hotels, we got up late and had sumptuous breakfasts, we took in the sights, spent a ridiculous amount on shopping and generally had the time of our lives! It was like a different time, thinking back…!
Now? Well, our last holiday was in a caravan in the Cotswolds, courtesy of The Sun and their bargainous breaks. It was pretty cold, though we were fortunate not to have rain every day, and we managed a sunny day out to Legoland from there – lots of fun! We were up by 7am daily (that was a lie in), we had cereals for breakfast, and we used our Clubcard vouchers for our theme park trip and remained relatively cautious with cash throughout the week. That’s been typical of our holidays since Boo arrived, though our next one is a little different, as we’re off to Coombe Mill next month – cannot wait!
But, though the Husband and I do look mournfully back on our holidays abroad, of which we had plenty before the children, we know we cannot moan. For starters, we did at least have all of these lovely adventures, so we know we’re lucky there, and really, how can we complain when holidays now mean spending time with our little ones and watching their faces light up with joy at all the little things. A bucket and spade and a 2p machine, and they’re over the moon! They don’t even need nice weather, though I confess, that’s the thing that I’d crave the most – actually going to the beach with them, without them having to wear coats and wellies would be nice!
What about you? What do you think of when we say ‘holiday’? Look forward to reading…
Linky opens 6.30 am Tuesdays, until midnight on Fridays. Next week’s theme is ‘yellow’
