A Summer Of Reading Awaits!

On average, I’d say I read 4-6 books a month. But as summer looms, I can see my summer of reading beckoning me and I’m getting excited.

As I study from September to June each year, I do have limited time to read, hence only getting through one book every few days to a week. Then as soon as my module finishes, my summer of books can begin. As I shared yesterday, I have just finished it, hooray!

So here is my current to be read pile.

I’d say this is actually around a third of the books I have to read, but these are the ones that I have decided I’ll read first.

On top of these, it’s my birthday next month and I already have several books in my Amazon basket just waiting for a birthday spend. In addition to those, on my birthday I have plans to visit a bookshop. Of course. And then there will be the books that my mum passes on to me and the ones that I randomly buy from charity shops and National Trust bookshops along the way. I do seem to acquire books quite easily and regularly!

I am a big Peter James fan and have several more of his to read, so I know I’ll enjoy that title. I am keen to start the Red Queen series, though I’ve heard there is a fourth coming (I have the first three) so I am debating waiting for that to come out so that I am not left hanging at the end of book three! Does anyone else do that with a series? Then there’s a good mix of thrillers, chick lit and historical fiction in there, plenty to keep me happy.

So I’d best start making in roads into this pile. The question is, where do I start?!

As always, I love to hear recommendations, so do let me know if you’ve read any great books lately.

Sharing is caring!

  1. Good selection there J. I love Patricia Cornwell’s Kate Scarpeta stories. I rarely get time to read but I’m looking forward to our summer hols when I always get chance to read. I’ve started collecting books, starting with a John Grisham one I bought at our annual plant and table top sale for 25p! I’ll look through the bookshelf and see what I can take with me, but no gardening books for 2 weeks!

  2. I’m going to put in a shout for ‘The Wrong Kind of Clouds’ by Amanda Fleet. Disclaimer – she’s my online writing buddy, but it’s a really good read.
