Siblings May 2016

Ah, at last we have some sunshine. I have been so desperate for it, as I am always happier in the warm, sunny weather, and I love having my garden as an extra room. It is where the kids have both spent most of their free time over the past couple of weeks and it’s been great seeing them running around out there, creating different games and playing on bikes and with balls.

I feel that I say this every month, but the gap between the two of them seems to be shrinking all of the time. Little Man is getting so tall now, and though Boo’s not at all short for her age, he does seem to be catching her up. He’s also gaining in confidence and is better able to express himself and get what he wants, and as Boo adores him, more often than not, she gives in to him. I do keep my eye on this and step in when I feel he’s going too far! But whilst my boy is gaining in confidence and his big sister dotes on him, there is no mistaking the elder of the two here as my daughter carries with her an air of the older sibling, an air of both authority and responsibility that is instantly recognisable. And an air of long-suffering. Ah yes, as one with a younger brother, I know that look!

Fortunately, they love each other, they are the best of friends and there’s no-one that they would rather spend their time with. As they grow, I’m sure this will change, but for now, it’s a pleasure to see the sibling bond between the two of them.

Here they are in the garden last weekend. Oh, it’s so easy to get them both looking at the camera and pulling normal faces….

  1. I love the funny faces in these photos – they’re such fun ones. Boo’s face in that second one does have that slight air of long-suffering in it! They always sound like they have the most wonderful bond with each other and certainly look like they are having fun together in all of your photos 🙂

  2. I’m with you with having the garden as an extra room, I love it when we can get out there. Last week I was puzzled thinking why is my house not as messy as it usually is? And then I realised its because they’ve been playing in the garden so much! Great photos, full of character!

  3. Very sweet and natural pics! Far more interesting than a simple smile!!! I know what you mean about age gap shrinkage. One of the joys of passing time, even if that does mean them growing up far too quickly. Isn’t the sunshine brilliant, I completely agree on the ease of having the garden as another place to play xx

  4. Your Little Man really looks so grown up this month, you’re right that the gap looks so much smaller this month. Lovely sunny photos! x
