Siblings June 2020

Another month has rolled round, and the kids are still spending all day, every day with one another. There’s no doubt that they miss their friends, they want to be with them. But, they are keeping each other company, playing happily together every day and supporting each other with their school work.

It’s weird how you do get used to having limited interactions with the outside world, and I think the kids don’t think much about it any more. They know the rules and they understand why this is happening. They are making the best of each day and getting on with the home education work as well as they can. Boo loves to spend her free time reading, riding her bike, on Sims or Animal Crossing, listening to music and Zooming and emailing friends and family. Little Man is really into his football so he’s out in the garden most days kicking a ball around or he’s playing FIFA 20 or talking about football. He still likes WWE and plays with his wrestling toys most days. When they are together, it’s usually some sort of imaginary play, normally resulting in lots of laughter, screaming and general chaos. And yes, it can drive me mad. But yes, I remind myself that I am lucky that they are safe and get along so well together.

I do wonder whether they will look back on this time when they’re older and how they will remember it. Will they remember the many family board game sessions we have had? Will they remember cycling and playing football with the Husband? Will they remember walking Herbie with me and helping me with the gardening? Will they remember the cakes and rice puddings? Only time will tell, I guess, but most of all, I hope that they do remember the fun that they had together.

Here they are this month, out in the garden.

Boo aged 10 years and 8 months old, Little Man aged 7 years and 9 months old. Love them.
