Readings Read – September

Well, another month is drawing to a close, and we’ve been reading plenty here, as per usual! These have been our favourite books this month:

Little Man

the tickle bookThe Tickle Book by Ian Whybrow & Axel Scheffler

He gets so excited by this one! He loves lift the flap, pop-up, peepo, all of those sort of books and games at the moment, and so he adores it when the tickle-monster makes his appearance! So much giggling and clearly it presents lots of tickling opportunities, too 😉

Boo

superwormSuperworm by Julia Donaldson

We have a lot of Julia Donaldson books here, as I’m sure is the case for many households with little ones, but it’s this one that’s proving popular with Boo this month (and, I freely admit, with me, too!). We like the Superworm chant, enjoy naming all of the insects on each page, and laugh seeing him as a hat – look at that mole – get the book, you’ll see!

Me

I’ve read several books this month, and as always, some of them have been historical romances. I particularly enjoyed this book, as I warmed to the characters quite quickly as I always like a smart heroine and I do like the unfurling of a marriage of convenience story.

The Husband

slash and burnSlash and Burn by Matt Hilton

I told you he was going to surprise you this month! He’s had a rare departure from Lee Child, and is really enjoying the Joe Hunter series (this is the third book in the series), and we’ve just ordered the fourth, so it must be going down well with him. He says he’s preferring them to Lee Child now, so I’m feeling smug as I found the series for him.

So what’s everyone else’s family been reading this month? Do share 🙂

    1. Lovely to hear from you, and happy you’ve stumbled this way. My husband really enjoys your books, so I’m sure in him you’ve found a fan for life!

  1. The Tickle Book is awesome! Lots of Axel Scheffler love this month it seems. Not read Superworm. Or The Highway Rat for that matter. I’ve not kept up with the Julia Donaldson / Axel Scheffler books, nothing ever beat Room on the Broom or The Gruffalo for us so I gave up collecting them and am probably missing out! How cool to have an author comment too, that’s instantly made me look up his books to see if I want to read them 🙂

    1. We love both of those children’s books, and yes, I do think you’re missing out where Superworm is concerned – I really like it! I was delighted to have an author comment, and as I said, my husband really enjoys those books so he’d recommend them 🙂

  2. We had a ticklebook. They used to plead for me to read it each night. I thought we had all the wonderful Julia Donaldson books – obviously not. Adding to my list, for sure.
