We’ve read so much this month! I’m back in my reading groove, and the children are as hungry to discover new books as ever. We’ve also been fortunate to receive a few new picture books to review, so we’ve had plenty to keep us busy. These have been our favourite’s this month..
Little Man – Pip and Posy: The Bedtime Frog illustrated by Axel Scheffler
We reviewed this earlier this month, and it’s a popular one here! This is Little Man’s third Pip and Posy book, and he really loves them all. The illustrations are gorgeous, and he enjoys getting me to name the various things he sees on every page, as well as loving the two main characters.
Boo – Maramaduke the Very Different Dragon by Rachel Valentine and Ed Eaves
It’s been tricky to choose Boo’s favourite this month, as she’s been deliberately trying to read different books for the #300PBs challenge, so hasn’t repeated many reads, but this one stands out as we have read this a fair few times! Again, it’s one we reviewed, and it’s such a lovely story of friendship, and we both adore that little dragon!
Me – The Help by Kathryn Stockett
I’d seen the film, and I don’t normally read books after I’ve seen the film, I tend to do it the other way round. But after a little chat over on Pinterest, with the lovely Mummy Morkus, she recommended reading this one, and freakishly, the very next day, I spotted a copy in a charity shop I was in – clearly I was meant to read it! I loved it.
The Husband – Dead Men’s Harvest by Matt Hilton
Back to Hilton and his Joe Hunter series again. He really enjoys these, as they are fast-paced and it’s great to read about Hunter. This one refers back to an earlier book in the series, tying up some loose ends.
Our #300PBs challenge continues to go well. We’re currently working our way through our Mr Men library, so there’s a fair few books there! And we still have plenty of picture books we’ve not yet read, as well as more library visits planned. As of today, we’ve read 146 different picture books this year (it has to be different ones – if it was any we’d have smashed the 300 by now, as Little Man has several of the same stories every single day!). We continue to enjoy the challenge, and I am pinning everything we’re reading here…

What about you? What have you been enjoying this month?
Here’s a random fact for you-I met Roger Hargreaves and got his autograph when I was a child! My dad worked for a book chain called Hudson’s and he got me an invite to a signing. I do enjoy seeing other people’s book reads-always new suggestions to investigate 🙂
Loving that random fact! A great memory and story to treasure x
I’m reading The Help at the moment too and really enjoying it. I don’t get to read nearly as much as I’d like. I’m hoping to remedy that on holiday a bit, when my husband will be around to help with Potato.
I’ve never heard of the Pip and Posy series. They look lovely though, so I must look them out for Potato xx
It’s really good, isn’t it? And we do love Pip & Posy. Hope you get some more reading time soon then!
We have been reading so many books! New favourites are The Tiger Who Came to Tea and two others that came in a boxset with it – One about a zoo and something about Mog? I’m useless at names! x
Ah, classic picture books – love them!
