Memory Foam Mattress Topper Review

This was one well-timed review! The Husband had recently mentioned that he felt our mattress topper needed replacing, and I had started doing my mattress research, but it was one of those things I’d yet to bump up the priority list and actually sort out, and then along came this…

We received the Double 5cm 60kg Memory Foam Mattress Topper from The Memory Foam Warehouse to test out….

mattress topper (1)

At 5cm deep this mattress topper offers a medium layer of additional comfort and luxury for your mattress. The 5cm 60kg Double Memory Foam Mattress Topper is available with a choice of covers including Essentials poly-knit, CoolMax®, Outlast®, or as foam only (no cover).

Outlast® Cover: The unique fabric draws heat away when your temperature rises, the heat energy is stored, and then released when you begin to cool down, keeping your body not too hot, not too cold, but just right during the night. This regulation of body temperature means you’re less likely to wake during the night, which ensures the deepest sleep possible.

CoolMax® Cover: The CoolMax® fabric is made from unique fibres which allow air to permeate and reduce heat and moisture build up, meaning your body stays cool and dry throughout the night.

A memory foam topper provides comfort for your whole body during the night, meaning you can wake up feeling refreshed and free of any minor aches and pains. Memory foam also provides relief for your pressure points, which encourages healthy blood circulation, as well as reducing the need to toss and turn during the night, meaning a deeper and more restful sleep.

Manufactured in the UK with quality raw materials and detailed finishing, you can purchase your mattress topper with the confidence of a 12 month manufacturer’s warranty from one of the UK’s leading memory foam mattress and topper manufacturers.

mattress topperThe mattress topper arrived all tightly rolled up. I will warn you – it’s heavy! Which I took as a good sign, but I did think it was lucky that the Husband was home to cart it up the stairs! It’s advised that once you have it, you lay it all out to allow it to unroll properly and flatten. The kids of course loved that part, as it made our dining room table into a bed for them for a few hours. I was immediately struck by how thick it felt and it did look nice and comfortable.

I remember with our old mattress topper feeling ridiculously hot the first few nights that we used it, but this one claimed to reduce heat, so I was looking forward to testing that out. Personally, I found I was quite warm, though only for the very first night of using this, though the Husband said he was fine, so it can only have been a slight thing.

We’ve been sleeping on it for a fortnight now, and it is really comfortable. It’s lovely and thick, and the bed is notably higher now – easy to spot as Little Man struggles to get on, whereas he was fine before. Both of us do feel that we’re less achy in the morning, which was interesting as neither of us had really taken notice that we aching when we got up until we switched to this topper and discussed it for this review!

It’s currently in the sale over on their website and I’d say that it’s a really good buy at that price. I’m not going to say we’re sleeping better at night, as Little Man sees to it that that is rarely the case, but when we do get up in the morning, we are no longer aching, so are set up better for the day ahead. It’s a key thing, I think, getting a comfortable night’s rest to keep you going through the following day, so it is worth investing in.

Do you use a mattress topper? What have you found?

  1. I could do with one as I need a new mattress but can’t afford one right now. Though my mum tried a Memory Foam one and said it was awful-always way too hot and sweaty…..however, I’m always cold so it would suit me, I expect. I must ask her what happened to hers……….
I always wondered about fitted sheets or valances too-I guess they’re out once you add one of these ?

    1. This one’s not too hot, as I know what she means, I felt like that with our last one. Valances would be fine as this simply sits atop the mattress. We use flat sheets, so not sure about fitted ones.

  2. We’ve had our topper for about a year and it’s definitely not as great as it was – its starting to bunch up a bit and move around the bed – what a joy!
this one sounds great – glad you’re all nice and comfy
Thanks for linking up wtih #TriedTested this week x

  3. My parents use a mattress topper and swear by it. Theirs moulds around the body giving full support for a good nights sleep. I am not sure if it’s the same make as yours, but I know they would recommend using one.

    1. This is really good and I hadn’t even realised how much we needed it until we’re now using it and more comfortable!

  4. It sounds great, like you say it’s one of those things you know you need to buy but gets shoved down the list. Definitely worth it though if you are less achier, it’s amazing how much difference things like that can make! xx #triedtested
