Jigsaw Love!

My 6 year old is a huge jigsaw puzzle fan. Has been for as long as I can remember. Me? Not so much. Until now, until this puzzle….

Wentworth Wooden Puzzles Abundance Garden

I have now discovered Wentworth Wooden Puzzles and I find myself to be something of a jigsaw convert.

Jigsaws have always been around as my mum and brother love them, so as I was growing up there would usually be one on the go in the house. I’d have to be in the mood to join in, and more often than not, if I did do it was only really at the end. Then when Boo came along, I noticed that she had a real love for them and is probably better than me at them already. She really enjoys them, so I am often on the lookout for more puzzles for her, making them that bit more difficult each time to keep her interested.

I spotted the Abundance Garden jigsaw puzzle, which at 230 pieces is just perfect for us. It makes it challenging for Boo and is something that we can complete within an hour or two which is just about perfect for me. One of the things that has put me off jigsaw puzzles is how long they take and the fact that because the larger ones are rarely done in one sitting, leaving them lying around is a risk with the 3 year old about!

Wentworth Wooden Puzzles are just gorgeous, and feel a little bit special. They arrive in a drawstring bag inside the box and as it is a wooden puzzle, it feels chunky and even the slight scent is appealing.

Wentworth Wooden Puzzles can be bought in different sizes and number of pieces, which I think is a brilliant idea. So often I’ll spot a jigsaw that I like the design of but realise it’s too many pieces for Boo or not enough if I like it for my mum. As the pieces are wooden, there is no flimsiness which I sometimes find with cardboard puzzles and you know that it’s going to last.

Then there are the special pieces that are positioned throughout the puzzle, like these ones…

How fabulous?! The children were so excited when they found these in amongst the pieces, as was I, truth be told. They are unlike pieces I have seen before and make for some very interesting shapes that are needed to slot in around them, too. Each of the animals do feature in the puzzle on a bigger scale.

One of the thing that I noticed about having a jigsaw is that everyone gets involved. Boo and I were very happily ensconced in our own world completing this, then the Husband came in and sat down and completed a little section for us, before the two of us finished the last few pieces as the kids went off to bed.

I really enjoyed completing this and found it to be thoroughly relaxing. It surprised me, as I thought it was something more for Boo than me, but I ended up loving it just as much as she did. I know that I have found my jigsaw puzzle supplier for life with Wentworth Wooden Puzzles, as this is the first one that has ever truly hooked me. The designs are stunning, with high quality craftsmanship and excellent materials. As you can probably tell, I would definitely recommend them.

I know that I will be buying these again, as gifts and for ourselves. Now the only question is which puzzle to get next? I do like the look of Neverending Stories and Bookshelf, just beautiful.

  1. wow so many lovely puzzles, i like a more difficult one so like the Daffodils Jigsaw or the Bluebells, Brathay Woods Jigsaw

  2. I like ‘Glow’d with tints of evening sun’. It’s a beautiful painting and would be a real challenge to complete as a jigsaw.

  3. I have a Wentworth puzzle called Venice Before Sunset which is my favourite and actually have a few now…I often find miniature ones at tourist attractions too which are cool. I have my eye on a London one though as my next purchase 🙂

    A lovely competition! X

  4. I like The Dance Class because my daughter is considering starting ballet. I also like the Queen’s birthday celebration one. It’s so clever.

  5. Love the look of the Abundance Garden puzzle, my 6 year old is also a jigsaw freak and shes really good at it too, she’ll sit for ages with a good one.x

I love Sweetshop – my grandad owned a sweetshop when I was little, and this would be a great reminder of my childhood

  7. Thanks for the lovely giveaway, we all love doing jigsaws. I really like the African Experience Jigsaw Puzzle.

  8. Crazy Candles because it’s crazy difficult! ? Good one for the whole family to get involved with

  9. I have only just discovered them, they are amazing, but since this is the only one I have seen, and it IS pretty fabulous, I would say this one

What beautiful jigsaws – have to admit that I would want to preserve the completed puzzle. My favourite is the Elephant Savannah puzzle; my husband adores elephants so I was immediately drawn to it.

  11. Butterfly Kaleidoscope is beautiful. These puzzles remind me of family heirlooms made during the war but a skillful uncle. He included whimsies and the initials of the recipient so we know exactly who the lucky person was.
