How We Would Spend £20k

I love this idea for a post! I saw it on Britmums, and though I’d be absolutely thrilled to win one of the prizes that are up for grabs, the concept got my attention. I mean, who doesn’t have that ‘if we won £xxx, what would we spend it on conversation’? I’ve enjoyed narrowing it down and I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading about what everyone else decides they would go for, too!

So, we have our £20k. Firstly, wow and hooray! We do the lottery here every single week, and I am pleased to see that as of the start of October, the money-pot distribution is changing – definitely appeals to me. Money’s in the bank, here’s where it’ll be going next…

driversGolf clubs I asked the husband what he’d like to spend it on, and these were the first words from his lips. No, don’t worry about the house, or the kids and I, get some golf clubs! To be fair, he’s recently saved for some new ones, but now that he has those, he ‘needs’ a new driver, and some other things that I confess I wasn’t entirely paying attention to. But, hey. if that’s what he wants, they’re on the list!

Project Garden It could all be paid for and done in one go! I’m not certain that this appeals to me as much as the challenge of doing it on a £0 budget, but I guess it’d be foolish not to take advantage!

Get Christmas wrapped up Just like that, one big spending spree (on-line, via Kidstart, of course!)

Driveway It’s one of those things that since we moved in here (8 years ago!), we’ve been saying we could do with doing, but there always seem to be better things to spend the money on – it’s hardly scintillating, is it?! But, I think with a win, we’d get it done and out of the way.

disneyworldHoliday – Disneyworld Florida We really want to take the children while they’re still young, though old enough to remember it. This would be a money in the bank for a few years, set aside for this until they’re a little older. Ideally, we’d road trip from LA across the country for several weeks, ending the holiday in Disneyworld – amazing! The husband and I have been and thoroughly enjoyed it, and I can only imagine how much more magical it will be with the children.

boys bedroomLittle Man’s bedroom He has all of the Mamas & Papas Gingerbread nursery range in there at the moment, a hand-me-down from Boo. I know I’ll be really sad when it’s time for it to go, and for him to move from cot to bed, but it’ll also be fun choosing it all and getting him involved, and it would be even better with a nice wad of cash to do it all with!

£5k bank Dull, I know, but it’d be great to have a little extra put away as a safety net.

£1k into each of the children’s accounts I’d feel way to guilty not to put some of it away for them!

So, what about you, what’s on your wishlist?

  1. I love that you’d spend so much of it gifts for other people. Surely you’d put a little aside for something for yourself that’s NOT the driveway. 🙂 Thanks for taking part. Good luck!

    1. You know, when you said that, I was thinking, no, it’s all for us, but you mean me specifically? Never occurred to me! I’d love that holiday and I would enjoy decorating and gardening, so it is all for me, really 😉 Enjoyed writing it, thanks

    1. It was fun to write, thanks. Well, if you insist I take some of it for myself, I wonder how many books I could justify buying…?!
