Happy 9th Birthday, Boo

Today my beautiful daughter is 9 years old.

I don’t know why, but ‘9’ just seems so grown up to me. I handled 7 and 8, but 9, 9 just seems too much! Maybe it is because I am seeing those changes in my girl, Boo is definitely growing up and entering into that ‘tween’ stage now.

Boo’s favourite things, aside from us, are books, cuddly toys and absolutely anything that involves her burning up energy! As such, she has books, cuddly toys and a skateboard for her birthday, something that she has been desperate for. The Husband spent most of his teenage years skateboarding, so let’s see if he’s still got it and can teach her a thing or two! She’s also got a few toys in her pile, as she still wants them, but to be honest she doesn’t play that much with them any more. She reads, she watches films, she crafts and creates, she plays with her brother and then she wants to be out and about. Anything at all will keep her happy – helping me with the weeding, playing football with her dad, a trip to the supermarket – honestly she’ll do any and all of it if it means she’s ‘doing’.

My daughter is one of the kindest people that I know. She also values kindness highly, if she tells me that someone is ‘kind’ I know that that’s the highest compliment that she can pay to them. She’s been this way since she was a toddler, and I do hope it’s something that stays with her throughout life. She is fair, she is loyal, she is bright and she is ridiculously observant. She continues to love going to school, taking everything in like a little sponge and adoring playing with her friends. I had expected that by this age, she would have started to slow down a little, but no, not my Boo. Everything is done at full speed, with every ounce of her being. Her energy is boundless and she is always up for going out, doing things, anything, she just wants to be busy.

She’s having around a week’s worth of birthday celebrations – and why not? It kicked off last weekend with lots of treats with family and an outing with her friend to Build-A-Bear and Pizza Hut. Today she’s at school, so tonight there’ll be a takeaway, cake and a movie night and this weekend we’re having a family day out, her choice.

Happy birthday sweetheart, I’m so very proud of you.

Sharing is caring!
