Today my girl is six years old.
Today Boo will be eating pancakes for breakfast (as requested!), opening her presents and then she’ll be off to her first big birthday party. When we return home, close family will be coming to share her cake with her, give her yet more gifts and make a fuss of the birthday girl. Tomorrow we’ve a lazy morning so that she can enjoy her new presents, then we’re off out for lunch and shopping so that she can spend her birthday money. It’s a full weekend and I want to spoil her for every single second of it.
She does seem so grown up these days. She’s an old 6 already, I think. I forget sometimes that she is only young, and have to remind myself of it when I’m having debates with a little girl! That said, I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by.
Boo is in so many ways a contradiction. She is lively and constantly in motion, yet give her her books, colouring or a letter to write, and she’ll become engrossed in the task and stay with it until it’s completed. She is confident and errs on the side of bossy, yet she is kind and considerate of others, generous and always looking to help. She is my little sponge, remembering all she’s been taught and always keen and eager to learn more about anything and everything.
She is the best big sister in the world, in my unbiased opinion. We could never give her a greater gift than that of a sibling, our Little Man. They are the very best of friends, largely due to Boo’s even temperament and big heart.
If I had to choose just three words to sum my girl up, I’d go with active, bright and happy. She’s always a bundle of fun.
From newborn to six. In the blink of an eye.
Happy birthday, my gorgeous girl.
