We were recently sent a picture book to review, and I have to say, it’s one of the best we’ve read in some time….
Florentine and Pig and the Spooky Forest Adventure by Eva Katzler
There’s a monster on the loose, and Florentine and Pig are determined to catch it! And what will they need for their monster-catching expedition?
Binoculars? Check!
Torch? Check!
Super-scrummy supper? CHECK! (Well, monster catching IS rather hard work)
But is there REALLY a monster out there, or are Florentine and Pig’s imaginations playing tricks on them? Either way, a lot of fun is guaranteed!
The characters and illustrations are funny and endearing. There’s a real sense of adventure and tension building throughout the story. It’s a fairly long picture book, which suits Boo, at 4, perfectly, and makes for an exciting bedtime story…
Every single page is crammed full of details to enjoy as the tale builds…
And at the back of the book we have a truly brilliant added bonus. There are several suggested crafts and recipe pages – we’ve already had the pancakes!
This book is truly lovely. This book had us checking out whether there were more in the series as soon as we’d read it, and to both mine and Boo’s delight, there are!
We will definitely look out for more Florentine and Pig books, as we loved this one.
Thanks very much to Bloomsbury for sending us a copy to enjoy, and it’s available to buy from 19th June.
Loving the illustrations in this-I do like quirky stories.
It’s a great story, lots of fun, and I love the illustrations and characters.
This sounds like a great book. I’m always on the look out for books like this – my daughter is four as well and sometimes picture books are a bit too short and sweet for her.
Oh, this one is fab. I’m getting her some of the others as we really like these. Great length and fun pics and story 🙂
Oh she looks like she loves it! I love the recipes 🙂 x
She does, as do I 🙂 x
That looks like a lovely read, fab illustrations and I love books with added extras – a real bonus.
It’s really good – I will get more!
That looks fab, I love the recipes! X
