Who Finds It First? Game Review & Giveaway

When The Present Finder got in touch offering us the chance to review their Who Finds It First? game I knew it was one for us.

Who Finds it First

Developed in Denmark, this delightfully simple family board game is Exclusive to the Present Finder. It is very easy to learn – using four picture tiles at time, just match up each picture tile with photos of the same object on the board. There are 500 different objects to choose from so it is not quite as easy as it sounds! The first player to spot and shout out the item, wins the tile……..however……the fun does not stop there. Some of the tiles have “Action Flags” on them so during each round you can:Steal picture tiles from your opponentsWin extra tiles from the big bag, to add to your pileIn addition, some tiles are worth extra points at the end of the game – so keep them safe

This is a loud game and requiring fast actions and reactions! Keep your wits about you and don’t take any prisoners. Brothers and sisters you have been warned!

My first impressions of this game is that it is easy and fast to set up and play. There are 9 big jigsaw pieces that you can fit together in any order. We’ve played it as a square, though of course it could be played as a line, too. There is then a sack full to the brim with picture tiles, so pop them on the table and you’re ready to play.

Who Finds it First game

The game play for young children is very straightforward. You take out four picture tiles from the bag, place them onto or around the huge square and everyone searches for them. The first player to spot an image shouts out and points to it, and they can then take that tile. Once all four picture tiles have been found, another four are taken from the bag and put into play, and so it goes on. The winner can be the first to gain a certain number of tiles or the person with the most tiles after a set amount of time. Or of course you can play for every picture tile, though be warned, there are 500!

For older players, there’s the extra dimension of ‘activity flags’ on the picture tiles. As you can see below, these can gain players extra tiles or the rights to steal tiles, adding a fun twist and keeping it interesting!

The Verdict?

I like the ease of set up, and for that matter, putting away! It’s one of those games that you can just grab on a rainy day and you’re playing within seconds, and it can last for as long or as short as time as suits you. The quality of the board and tiles is good, as the pieces are all bright and sturdy and with 500 picture tiles, there’s hours’ worth of game play here. It’s a great game for all ages and abilities as it’s so versatile. Boo and Little Man are 6 and 3 and can both play this together in it’s simplest form. It occupies them for some time, holding their attention well. Boo does have the edge at spotting the pictures and her concentration span is longer, so I’d say it’s more suited to her age than Little Man’s, but that said, it’s a good game to get for engaging all ages together as the concept is so appealing and simple. We like it!

  1. Sounds fun and my son is very good at spotting items in a picture so he would especially love finding first before his dad 🙂

  2. A couple of things appeal to me the first is that it encourages concentration, teamwork and most importantly it would keep the kids quiet for ten mins while I have a cuppa!!!!

  3. I’m totally addicted to hidden object games and it seems to be passing down to my kids too, so this would be ideal!! 😀

  4. It sounds really versatile and suitable for a wide range of ages. Great that it can change to challenge your kids as they get older.

  5. I like that it looks strong and sturdy. My youngest can be quite rough and things get broken quickly just now.

  14. I like the fact that the children would have to concentrate as they must be able to do that before they start school. The fact that the game is sturdy is also a big plus in our house.

  15. I like that it’s a simple concept of finding items yet can be used for hours and appeals to different age groups really bringing the family together and different ages also can help with learning at different levels whether it’s what the items are or colours or shape of items shown to quick thinking reflexes
