Experiencing the Toboggan Day Ticket at SnowDome #gifted

We have been trying out the Toboggan Day Ticket at SnowDome.

We were invited by Snowdome to experience the family day ticket free of charge, and this post contains commissioned links

Today has been a fun day! We have been experiencing the toboggan day ticket at Snowdome, Tamworth. We were invited to try one of their family day tickets out, and there are two options you can choose from. You can go for flume and inflatable swimming, toboggan and ice skating or flume and inflatable swimming, climb and ice skating. We opted for the former simply because the kids went over to Snowdome for a Climb session a couple of weeks ago (not a media visit, paid for by us, they loved it!).

I should mention, the family ticket was provided for all of us, but it was just the Husband and kids getting involved.

If you follow me on social media you will know that I recently sprained my ankle so I didn’t think it wise to risk its recovery!

First up was swimming. We are very familiar with the swimming facilities at Snowdome as it’s where we always swim. The changing rooms are clean and warm and the pool is a good size.

The flume and inflatable session runs for an hour and a half, and there’s plenty in the pool along with space for free swimming.

My two were more comfortable splashing about and working on their swimming in the shallow end.

After swimming we headed to The Aspen Food Company for lunch before moving onto the next activity, please note that lunch is not included in your day ticket.

Lunch is served from 11am, which is handy as you only have certain gaps within your day to allow time for food. The Husband went for a pizza and chips, I had beer-battered fish, chips and mushy peas and the kids went for a cheeseburger and fries and pizza and fries.

The service was quite speedy, which meant that we could relax and enjoy it knowing we had plenty of time before our next activity. All of the meals were fresh and hot and the portion sizes were generous.

Lunch at SnowDome

After lunch, it was time to head to the car to get layered up. That is the thing that you need to remember with this, especially if you are going in the summer. You will need winter wear!

So I would suggest that you travel light for swimming and then go and get your wellies, coats and gloves for the rest of the day.

Next up then, was toboggan fun. This is a half an hour session, with a fifteen minute safety briefing first. This took place on the main slope so there is a long way to come down.

The kids both loved this, Boo did it alone and Little Man was in a toboggan with the Husband. Though the Husband used to snowboard on this slope at the Snowdome, this was his first toboggan experience and he enjoyed it.

I watched from a great viewing platform, and it looked so fast, I saw a few people falling out of their toboggans! The staff were really on the ball, helping people back up and encouraging them to slow down when they needed to.

If you are preparing for a winter holiday, this would be a great way to get in some practice, and along with tobogganing, there are skiing and snowboarding sessions. So if you are gearing up for a trip to the likes of Bluehouse Skis, maybe book in a session or two.

Finally, it was time for ice skating. This was the activity that Boo was the most excited about.

The kids have had a brief try at this before, just on Drayton Manor’s temporary Christmas rink, so nothing quite on this scale.

Oh my, there was much clinging to the side and screaming.

It was fun to watch, I couldn’t stop laughing! Little Man must have fallen over in every way possible, and yes, he did have a skating aid to hold onto. Don’t worry, he was laughing a lot, but all the same, he had had his fill of ice skating after half an hour, so I brought him home with me and left the other two to it.

You get a two hour session of this, which is loads of time, and Boo and the Husband took full advantage of it.

They both tell me that they really improved over the session. I wasn’t there to witness this, but I would say judging by what I saw when they first went out onto the ice, they could only have got better!

The kids are now in that zone where they are absolutely exhausted but also excitable and buzzing about their day.

It’s been perfect for a rainy day like today as it’s kept them busy and active all day. They really enjoyed it, Boo’s favourite was the ice skating and Little Man adored the toboggan. I can see this day ticket proving to be a hit with families through the school holidays.
