Disney On Ice 100 Years Of Magic

We received free tickets to the show

It’s no secret that we are Disney fans in our house. We are on the countdown to our next Disney World trip (four months to go!) so it was wonderful to be invited to see the Disney On Ice 100 Years of Magic tour as it opened in Birmingham last night. It gave us all the Disney feels!

About Disney On Ice 100 Years Of Magic

Be charmed by a cast of over 50 unforgettable Disney characters, with Mouse-ter of Ceremonies Mickey Mouse, the spirited Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and many of the Disney Princesses, including Jasmine, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White and Tiana. Plus, for the first time on ice, Buzz, Woody and Bo Peep are joined by their new friend Forky, the lovable spork-turned-toy, as the gang from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 help him realise what it means to be a toy! Relive the magic of Disney’s Frozen with Anna, Elsa and the hilarious snowman Olaf as they discover that true love is the greatest magic of all. Sing along to over 30 unforgettable songs including favourites like ‘Let It Go, ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’, and ‘Hakuna Matata’. Be thrilled by exciting moments from Disney’s The Lion King, Finding Dory, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and more, leaving your whole family captivated with memories that will last them a lifetime.

We were all excited about seeing so many of our favourite characters, and to kick the evening off, the kids got to meet Mickey and Minnie!

Loving those costumes! We then had a little surprise for Boo and Little Man as they had been invited to go out onto the ice during the show in a boat – they were beyond happy. This also meant that we all had rink side seats so that they were near to the ice ready for their moment. It was truly magical and they haven’t stopped talking about it since, what an amazing experience.

The show

The show was packed with so many Disney characters and songs that I couldn’t keep count! They moved from film to film quickly, in some cases there was one song and dance and in others there was a medley of some of the best hits from the film. From the Disney Princesses to Frozen to Toy Story 4 to The Lion King to Mulan, it captivated us throughout.

The skating was wonderful, as always, and as we had rink side seats for the first time, we really got to appreciate how high and fast they can get on that ice, it’s amazing!

There is an intermission over halfway through the show, and there are plenty of places to grab food from, either hot food or snacks and sweets. It’s around two hours long, including the intermission, and if you park in the NIA car parks I’d recommend that you pay for your parking when you arrive as the queues looked really long after the show.

Our thoughts

All the kids have been going on about is going in the boat onto the ice! Which is understandable as that was a special experience for them. They have taken their programmes into school today for Show and Tell which tells you how much they loved their evening.

We have been to see the Disney On Ice tour several times now, and I know that I say it each time, but it just gets better each time.

I love how many characters they are featuring in this tour. Some of the earlier tours that we saw had around four main sections with scenes and songs from those four Disney classics. They were brilliantly done, but I do find myself preferring the show in this format. I like to see lots of characters, flit from film to film and sing every song – I do sing every song, yes. It means that there’s a good chance that your child will see their favourite as they have so many of them in the show. I also think it makes it a lot pacier so it holds everyone’s attention more, and with so many little ones in the audience, this is absolutely key.

We had a magical evening, thanks so much Disney on Ice for the invitation.
