My Current Reading Pile

For this month’s Papery peep linky, I thought I’d share my current reading pile with you.

my reading pile

So I’ve a few to get stuck into, which I always like. When I have a fair few, like this, I tell myself that I can’t buy any more until I’ve at least read halfΒ of them, but as it’s my birthday in a couple of weeks, I really feel that that’ll be going out the window!

I got the Mr Darcy Takes a Wife, based on a mention of it by a My Fictional World linker, so am intrigued to find out what that’s like.Β Similarly, I had a chat on Twitter about Camilla Lackberg books, and have now read a couple, am currently reading The Stonecutter by her, and have these ready to read, too. The Forget-Me-Not Sonata was my #BringBackPaper April book swap, so a totally random addition to my reading pile, and it does look really good. And then I’ve had a couple passed on to me and picked up others that I fancy. Other than Lackberg and Cornick, they are allΒ by authors that I’ve not read before.

I see a pile like this and see entire new worlds and stories just itching to envelop me. When I have several new books to read, I struggle to choose which ones to read next, as I want to read them all!

OK, and you know how I said I try not to buy more. Well, I wrote this post on Monday, it’s now Tuesday evening, and I might just have bought a few things this afternoon! They were bargains, so I literally could not avoid it!

book buys

I’ve just recently bought a slow cooker, so this book at Β£3.99 was impossible to resist, I’d seen Birdsong recommended by Emily in My Fictional World linky, and had been keeping an eye out for it, so had to grab it for Β£1! And then I’d been on the lookout for a nice gardening journal, and this one is gorgeous, with tabs and stickers throughout to help me organise everything, and it was only Β£2.99 – I love it and would have gladly paid more, but hey, I’m happy with my bargain πŸ™‚

Have you read any of these? What are you reading at the moment?

If you’d like to know more about my #BringBackPaper series, here’s the launch, and then read on πŸ™‚

  1. I’m currently reading Longbourn by Jo Baker. It is Pride and Prejudice set from the angle of the servants and was recommended to me by a French friend. I may tackle it in French afterwards to help my language skills. I agree with Amy, Birdsong is great. I don’t know any of the others from your pile but I reckon I’d enjoy The Plantagenets.

    1. That sounds like something I’d enjoy, so thanks for sharing. I’ll just read it in English, I think! I’m keen to read Birdsong as quite a lot of people have said it’s great – can’t wait!

      1. I find reading a book in French that I have already read in English is a great way to learn French – that said I gave up on A Christmas Carol and found Animal Farm really hard. However Road Dahl’s kids’ book are brilliant to read in French πŸ™‚

    1. Yes, of course you can! Might not be for a while, but I’ll send it on as soon as it’s read πŸ™‚

  2. Book Pile posts are amongst my favourite types πŸ™‚ – I haven’t read any of these except Birdsong which is about as good as WWI novels written by people who didn’t experience it get! πŸ™‚

    1. I can imagine! High praise indeed. I might have to move it to the top of the pile then, thanks πŸ™‚

  3. Oh, what a great pile! I enjoyed the Ann Cleeves book πŸ™‚ I’ve just finished the Seven Deadly Wonders that Nicola suggested… A fun, if somewhat contrived, story! So far, I have 25 boxes of books waiting to be shipped from the UK πŸ™‚
