Family & Days Out

Little Man is 6!

How can my baby be turning six years old today? Oh, and in truth ‘Little Man’ is now something of a misnomer. He’s taller than all of his classmates and most of the year above him! Little Man has been counting down the months, weeks and days to today. He has been desperate for his birthday. He has gone on and on about wanting Lego Dimensions for the Playstation. I can only hope that it can live up to the hype he’s created in his own mind. He desperately wants the Ghostbusters packs to go with it, and he’s asked Read more >

Feasting At The Big Feastival

On Sunday we had a little trip out to Alex James’ farm in the Cotswolds, to enjoy feasting at The Big Feastival. We’d not been before, so were keen to have a look around and see what it was all about. There were cooking demos on throughout the day, loads and loads of food to try, fun activities for the kids to get involved with, fairground rides, shops and stalls and of course, the live music. Unfortunately, I think we managed to be there on the worst day of this summer as it absolutely hammered down with rain all day Read more >

Our Mini-Break in Devon

A couple of weeks ago we had a few days down in Devon. I was craving sea air and the good old British seaside, so we made a few plans and embarked upon our mini-break in Devon. I adore Devon. I have so many fond memories of holidaying there as a child, so it’s lovely to take my kids now. We did only have three nights there, I booked us into a Premier Inn in Bideford (the kids love their breakfasts!), as we wanted to explore a bit of North Devon. Our hotel was right opposite a small shopping outlet Read more >

What Do You Look For In A Family Holiday?

I am on the search for inspiration. Having come back from a fabulous holiday a few weeks ago and looking back so fondly on our holiday last year, I am now starting to think about our next break. We’ve been so fortunate that our last two holidays were so much fun and just what we were looking for, that I am starting to worry that we won’t be able to find anything else to match them. But then I started drawing up a list (I do love a good list!) of what we would look for in a family holiday Read more >

Fun At Twycross Zoo

We had a fun day out at Twycross Zoo over the weekend. It is always a favourite place to visit, and we know it so well now that the kids babbled away excitedly during the journey there about all of the animals that they are looking forward to seeing. As we arrived as they opened, it was quite early in the morning and the animals were very active, more so than we’ve seen before. We also noticed that there were lots of babies around to see and we managed to spot most of them throughout the day. The zoo is Read more >

5 Reasons to Visit Gardener’s World Live

Last week my mum and I went along to BBC’s Gardener’s World Live. We go every year and it’s a real annual highlight for us. A day for us to indulge our love of gardening, surrounded by beautiful sights and scents. I can’t recommend it enough, which is why today I’m sharing 5 reasons to visit Gardener’s World Live with you. It’s held at the NEC each June, and is attached to the BBC Good Food Show, so you get to see both shows. We always go on the Thursday or Friday and it’s busy, but never suffocatingly so, though we’ve Read more >

One for Harry Potter Fans

We have been lucky enough to take in two amazing Harry Potter experiences over the last few weeks, as we have visited both the Warner Bros Studio Tour The Making of Harry Potter in London and also The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Orlando. And yes, the kids and I are Harry Potter fans so we have absolutely loved it all, so I thought I’d share a few details and photos today, one for Harry Potter fans. I think I’d start by saying that both are amazing and both are completely different, which is why I’d recommend Read more >

I Fear I Might Burst!

I fear I might burst. We leave for Disney World in a few days time. A holiday that we have been counting down to for twelve months. Our tickets have been printed. I have a packing list in progress. I have sent over our resort room request. We’ve ordered our food for our Be Our Guest reservations. And you would not believe the amount of times I have checked and moved around our Fast Passes! The kids are excited. Very excited. I am not sure how well the day before we fly will go. We need to pack, drop the guinea Read more >

Siblings May 2018

We have actually had a little sunshine this month. Not much, but enough to get out and enjoy the garden and have a few days out. Little Man and Boo are like chalk and cheese with most things, and the sunshine is no different. Boo loves the warmer weather, sees it as a chance to be outside all the time, invariably running around exploring everywhere. She’s always been the same, full of energy and curiosity. Little Man is more of an indoors, sedate kinda person! He’ll go out, then get bored quickly and retreat back inside, to Lego, Star Wars Read more >

Siblings April 2018

These two have absolutely loved the Easter holidays. We’ve not got up to much, it’s been a nice mix of catching up with friends and family, a few trips out and then lots of time playing and relaxing at home. They have enjoyed it all, whether they be playing ‘Peter Pan’ in the garden, exploring the Sea Life Centre, colouring side by side or snuggled up for a movie night, they have been happy. They’ve had a couple of sleepovers, once at my mum’s house and then once here as they shared a bedroom. They love doing this, and they Read more >

Jelly Invaders at the National Sea Life Centre

Over the weekend, we enjoyed a trip out to the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. We’re working with them this year and love putting our annual passes to use. The kids are always excited to visit, and this time were even more so as they knew there was a new Jelly Invaders area to explore..ooohhh! If you’ve never visited before, it’s well-signposted throughout the city so you should have no trouble finding it. We normally park in one of the NIA car parks close-by, so it’s just a few minutes walk to the Sea Life Centre. It’s a lovely Read more >

Our Disney World Plans

How can it be only a few weeks until we go to Disney World? The time has just flown by, and I think, I hope, we are all set for it now. We have moved resorts since we first booked and are happy with that, we have got our seats on the plane sorted along with booking into the V Room at the airport, our ride FastPasses are all in place and we have a handful of reservations to look forward to.  Oh, and the less interesting stuff is all done, from ESTAs to insurance. We have also all acquired quite Read more >

A Free Day Out With The Kids!

Free days out with the kids can be hard to come by, especially when we have so much rain forecast over the holidays. Lots of our go-to free places are outdoors, from feeding the ducks to going to playgrounds to whizzing around on bikes or scooters. But it can be a little trickier when it’s wet, so today I’m sharing what we got up to on Monday, as Subway challenged us to have a day out without spending on the kids. Not easy to do! We decided to take a train trip into Birmingham as that’s always an adventure and Read more >

Disney on Ice: Worlds of Enchantment Tour

Last week we spent a magical afternoon at Disney On Ice’s Worlds of Enchantment tour. It was utterly brilliant! We are big Disney fans in our house, so this was absolutely perfect for us. We have seen Disney On Ice a few times now and it seems that we all get more excited about it with every show that go to! And I am delighted to say that Worlds of Enchantment lived up to expectations, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We got seated around ten minutes before it began and I was amazed to see how quickly the arena filled Read more >

Easter Fun with Cadbury Peter Rabbit!

Oh my, we had the BEST delivery last week, a bundle full of Cadbury Easter eggs. Can there be anything better than being picked up from school and told that when you get home you’ll be having some Easter fun and going on an Easter egg hunt? Not your average Wednesday afternoon, so the kids were thrilled! We kicked it off by getting their Easter bonnets ready, and then they happily donned them and embarked upon their Easter egg hunt. They were beyond excited! I hid the eggs around the house, and had fun playing ‘warmer/colder’ with them. This is Read more >

Siblings March 2018

These two are too close this month, just too close! I think it’s a combination of a few things, from awful weather weekends keeping us inside a bit more than usual, the excitement of our upcoming holiday and Little Man being poorly a couple of times. All of these things together mean that their energy levels are high and their desire to be as close as they physically can to one another has got up a notch. Boo hates it when Little Man is ill and counts down the moments until they can play and cuddle together again. And given Read more >
