Bubble Trouble by Tom Percival

We’ve been enjoying reading Bubble Trouble this week…

Bubble Trouble

Bubble Trouble by Tom Percival

Rueben and Felix are best friends, and what they like doing best . . . is blowing bubbles – the bigger, the better! It all starts to go wrong when Rueben challenges Felix to a bubble-blowing competition. When they sabotage each other’s bubble machines, the results are disastrous. It’s time to stop fighting against each other and pull together!

A charming story about friendship, fights, and making up.

We have Tom Percival’s Herman’s Letter, which Boo and I love to read, so we were excited when this arrived and we were both keen to settle down with this. In fact, before I had a chance to sit with her, Boo had sneaked off with it, so I found her ‘reading’ it to herself!

The story is about two best friends, who do everything together, until their competitive streaks rear their ugly heads! In the end, it turns out that working together, instead of being up against each other gives them the best results of all.

The illustrations are cute, as the characters do look very loveable, and this one’s a lift the flap book, so we get to peer behind the bubbles…

Lift-the-flap is always popular here anyway, and then there’s the fact that Boo spotted a bear that looks a lot like Herman in the book, which she thought was brilliant! Seeing how big the bubbles get, and how inventive the pair become is fun and, in the end, it’s nice to see the friends close again…for a while! The story got us chatting about being competitive and then the benefits of working together. It’s a good message, and timely for us, as she’s just started school, so new friendships are being formed.

A sweet, fun book about friendship, packed with cute woodland animal illustrations. It’s out today, priced at £6.99 for the paperback.

Disclosure: We received this book FOC for the purposes of this review. As ever, all words and opinions remain my own.
