Book Swap February 2020

It’s dark and it’s chilly out there, which makes it perfect book reading weather! That’s why this month’s Bring Back Paper activity has to be a book swap. (OK, OK, I will no doubt say that the nice sunny days are perfect for book reading too, out in your garden, listening to the bees buzzing around. Every day is a perfect book reading day in my world!)

If you haven’t tried this activity before, the idea behind the book swap is simple and really easy for anyone to join in. It’s open internationally and you can join in as long as you are aged over 18. The idea is to send a pre-loved fiction book out into the world for someone else to enjoy, and for the recipient to be reading something that they may not have chosen themselves. It’s a lovely item of surprise happy mail to receive and it might help you to find a new author or genre that you love. It’s fun to read something that you might not have picked up yourself every once in a while.

Join the Book Swap

If you’d like to join in, please email me at [email protected] with the following details:

Name, address, and your least favourite genre.

To keep postage costs down, I’ll always aim to pair you with someone in the same country wherever possible.

The idea behind the swap is that you receive a completely pot luck book that perhaps you would not have picked up yourself, though by specifying your least favourite genre, it means you shouldn’t get something that you already know you really don’t like! It’s all part of the risk and the reward!

You will all be in pairs, so you will be sending to the same person that you will receive your book from. I will send over email details along with the address details of your swap partner so that you can get in touch with one another directly in the case of any problems.

The swap is open until 13th February 2020 and all swaps need to be sent in time to be received by the end of February, so please do only join in if you can commit to sending a book this month, as I’d hate for anyone to be disappointed. It is a shorter opening date this time, as most of you join up within the first week or so anyway, so you’ve then plenty of time to get your books out by the month end. Unfortunately I cannot accommodate late joiners on this one as I’ll be out of office, but do not worry if you miss it, there will be more!

Is this something you fancy trying this month?
