3 Ways To Grow Your Blog

This is a collaborative post

Blogging is a wonderful outlet for your creativity. It is a great way to find and connect with like minded people and it is a fun hobby to work on and develop. On top of this, if you can make it work, it can be a flexible and variety-filled income stream. I know that more and more people are giving it a go, so with that in mind today I am sharing 3 ways to grow your blog.

Focus On The Content

This is the place to start and this is something that you will need to keep on coming back to along your blogging journey. You are always going to need to keep your focus on the content.

Look out for tips on how to write great blog posts and then think about the topics that you would like to write about. Will your blog cover a specific niche, such as books, or will it cover a wide range of subjects, becoming more of a hobbies blog, a lifestyle blog or perhaps a family blog? There are thousands of topics that you can write about, and if you are not too sure where to start, I would say sit down and think about those things that you are passionate about or want to explore further.

As soon as you have decided what you are going to write about, map out several content ideas and start writing. Bear in mind search engine optimisation as you write, and you should find that over time your content will start getting found organically this way. With several posts live, you can start promoting your posts and connecting with others.

The content is key at the outset of your blogging journey, and it remains just as important six months in, six years in and more. It may well change and develop over time, but writing fresh and genuine content is what will keep your readers coming back for more.

Create A Schedule

The great thing about blogging is that there are no rules, you can write on your own terms, but it does help if you can create your own schedule. You are in charge of it, it’s still all up to you, but putting one together will help you for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, your readers will know what to expect from you. For example, they will discover that on Tuesdays you share a new recipe or the week and on Fridays you write a weekly round up, and they like to pop by for these. Content popping up regularly also helps you in search engines and it helps to show potential partnerships that you are actively blogging.

Secondly, it will help to motivate you to create new content. Knowing that your readers are expecting a beauty product review from you this weekend should give you that little push to get around to writing it for them.

Utilise Social Media

Most successful bloggers use social media, in some form or another. It will be up to you to choose which platforms you would like to concentrate on and it is worth developing just one or two at a time as they can take time to grow. Most bloggers have a Twitter presence and this is a great place for making connections and getting inspiration for ideas. If you can master Pinterest it can make a huge difference to your blog traffic, so it is worth trying to get a handle on this one quite early on. Instagram can be a fun community to join, though it can frustrate some as it can be a difficult channel to grow. There are many more platforms to explore, but pick one or two and then go from there.

It is worth deciding which channels you feel your blog would do best on, where you feel that most of your readership spend time, and then start researching them for top tips and hints. In all cases, though it can take some time, it will serve you well to grow them genuinely and organically. You might like to use social media marketing tools to help you to schedule and coordinate you social media sharing, and to help you to evaluate its success.

To sum up, three good ways to grow your blog on a consistent basis are to focus on your content, write regularly and to get busy over on social media. Best of luck with it!
