Word of the Week 9/2/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

It’s been a funny old week.

My Little Man was poorly from Friday through to Monday, so I had him unexpectedly at home with me for a couple of days. It meant that he had to miss his best friend’s birthday party over the weekend, which sadly made them both cry, poor things. Of course, I had to change my plans and my assignment went on the back-burner, as did work. We stayed in for several days, and he was surprisingly chipper considering how poorly he was, I think that had a lot to do with having me to himself for a couple of days at home, just watching movies! Which is why I was then expecting him to have a wobble when he returned to school, given that he’s been tearful going in most days this term. But no, he went back in on Tuesday with a big smile on his face – I really did not foresee that!

Over the weekend, with the Husband occupying the kids, I spent many hours longer working on the pen pal sign up than I had anticipated. There were an unforeseen amount of sign ups this time, I must allow a lot more time for this one when I next run it! It’s lovely to think of all of that snail mail out there now, though.

I was delighted to finally finish off my assignment and submit it, such a relief. I then managed to get through the next section of reading material ready for another assignment, on my other module. I hadn’t expected to make up the lost time so well, and I am now happy to be in the position to be able to write the next one over the next few days – happy? Well, you know what I mean.

And finally, we’ve been having some wobbles about our holiday, which has been on my mind for much of this week. When we booked our accommodation we knew there would be some refurbishments taking place to the food places there, but since then they have added further projects and it’s looking like a lot of unforeseen construction is taking place there now. We didn’t expect this, so I’ve been looking for updates everywhere and am lurking various forums that are discussing it. We’re looking into our options, though part of us thinks we should just go with it and see how we get on as we chose that resort for good reasons – if only we could foresee how this one pans out.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?
