Word of the Week – 6/6/14

Thank you so much for continuing to share and to link up. I love reading everyone’s chosen words, and it’s great to see so many familiar linkers, as well as new ones each week.

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. Come join in! All that I ask is that if you link up, you link back to me, and visit a handful of other blogs and comment on their words.

My word of the week this week is:

turtles

If you saw my blog post yesterday, you’ll be unsurprised by this word! Boo has discovered the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They are taking over her every thought and waking moment! She wants to watch them, play with them or actually be them. Then when she wakes up in the morning, she’ll tell me that she dreamt about them! Oh, how it takes me back, as my brother used to love these, too. However, this is not the only reason for turtles this week, as coincidentally, Little Man has also been very attached to his new cuddly toy, too – a turtle. It’s nothing to do with the TMNT, and I’m pretty sure he’s not associating it with them, he simply loves him. He’s been on all of our trips this week with us (the turtle that is – I’m not in the habit of leaving Little Man at home!) and it’s so sweet to see him clutching the originally named ‘turtle’ to his chest, wherever we may go, and I do like hearing him say ‘turtle’. Turtles have ruled my week!

  1. Now I’m going to be singing that 80’s theme tune all day!! How funny and somewhat unexpected (knowing Boo a little) that these shelled dudes should capture her imagination so much-brilliant. And I can hear Little Man saying turtle, bless him, I bet that’s very cute 🙂

    1. Ha ha – sorry about that! Oh, she’s totally wrapped up in them. She does love a hero! It’s so adorable how he says it! x

  2. Wow , teenage mutant ninja turtles just keep going , Ollie likes them too , as did my eldest boys .
Its so cute when little ones get attatched to a toy and how funny that It happened to also be a turtle

  3. I have to admit to being a bit old for TMNT although I remember the craze when I worked in Woolies on a Saturday morning. Maybe we’ll see if my two like it as it would be great to have something other than Scooby Doo in the DVD player for a while! It’s so lovely when they have a favourite toy and I’m sure a turtle is a great one to have! So adorable!

  4. A blast from the past! sounds like she is a big fan bless, and it is cute when Little Ones take to a certain soft toy and take them everywhere, Monkey is the same with his toy dog “Sizzles” (dont ask lol),
Thanks for hosting Jocelyn and have a fab weekend!!!! 🙂 xx

    1. It’s turtle mad here! Dinosaurs go down well, too 🙂 Thanks and have a good one yourself x

  5. Turtles are popular in this house too! Not the teenage mutant ninja ones yet (though I remember them fondly…) but Arthur has a twilight turtle nightlight which he loves (and I do too). It was one of his earliest words and it’s resurfaced again recently – mainly to point out actual turtles but yesterday to label the roast chicken we were about to eat. Didn’t put him off it fortunately 🙂 x

    1. Ha ha – yum!! Good job it didn’t put him off. I do like hearing a little one say turtle 🙂

  6. Oh my! The things I am happily putting off 🙂 I brought a turtle back from #BlogOnMosi which is loved but not understood. I am vaguely content with Frozen and Doc McStuffins… not sure how I’d cope with mine loving anyone other than MichaelAngelo!

    1. It’s a great word! Yes, it’s been unexpected as she’s REALLY into it! Frozen has been forgotten…!

  7. Good grief – I thought they had long disappeared off the face of the earth. When I worked in countryside management years ago the craze actually caused us a lot of problems. People would buy turtles for their children and then either get fed up with them or find they got to big and they would dump then them in local ponds. These voracious eaters would them eat everything in the pond greatly reducing it’s value as a wildlife habitat. I wonder how many are still out there?
