Word of the Week 2/6/17

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

This week’s word was nearly flowers as I have been enjoying seeing so many of my plants flowering this week, especially my peonies and roses, but in the end, it just had to be books.

This week has seen the children and I visiting the library, their idea and one that I fully supported! The self service machines there amazed me, they are clever little things, and of course we all came away with books to read. That same day, I received the latest title by one of my favourite authors, Julia Quinn, one that I’d pre-ordered so that was a very nice surprise.

I did then have a good sort through my bookshelves and took a big bag of books to the charity shop. I have some that I keep and others that I like to send back out there, so it was nice to clear out. Of course, this was largely in preparation for my upcoming birthday as I have plans to buy a fair few books then!

Do brochures count as books? For the purposes of this post they do! We’ve got a few Disney World brochures and booklets that we have all enjoyed looking through as we continue to make plans and get excited about our holiday next year.

I’ve been chatting to a publisher about taking part in a fun children’s book tour at the start of next month which will also involve a great competition that I am happy to be hosting.

I have also launched the Bring Back Paper Club this week, and I see from the survey that I popped in that post that a lot of people are interested in more book swaps and a book club. OK, I am on it!

A bookish week = a good week for me!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share.

  1. I love reading about how much you love books, I used to be the same but reading has fallen by the wayside for me. I really need to make it a priority again. Exciting news about the children’s book tour I will be watching out for that. Have a lovely weekend x

  2. A book week = a good week for me too. We went to the charitybook shop this week and picked up a few books. There has been lots of reading. I have a system of returning books to the same charity shop, unless we want to keep them. Works out as a different kind of library. #wotw

  3. Sounds like a wonderful relaxing week and a fun one, too. Books can take you anywhere, the imagination it inspires is wonderful!
I find I now start a book but never finish it!!

    Thanks for hosting!

    1. Yes, I definitely think it’s one of those things you need to make a habit of, then the time is there x

  4. Ah I love books, what a lovely week. I miss trips to the library with the boys but they have so grown out of that now. And hoorah for holiday planning that is my favourite thing to do ever x

  5. Books are great. My mother asked me whether I read the ones on my shelves. There are a lot but many of them are reference ones. Thanks for hosting #WotW

  6. I love the sound of the children’s book tour and glad you all enjoyed the trip to the library. Having a good clear-out is always nice – especially when you know you’re making room for more books to enjoy! Thank you for hosting #WotW 🙂
