Word of the Week 12/8/16

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

food

Which feels a bit of an odd word to choose given that we always have food! There are reasons!

We’ve eaten out a fair few times this week, as well as partaking in cinema snacks at a ridiculous time – The BFG was an early 9.10am showing and the kids had consumed all of their pick and mix by the time it started!

Sunday saw us visiting Countryfile Live which had an amazing food festival. Little Man was all about the food and went around tasting everything that he possibly could. We ate out there, too, and brought a few treats back home with us, including flapjacks to die for.

I’ve also been having a bit of a mealtimes shake up. We seem to have got into a bit of a rut and I feel we’re having the same meals over and over again. So I spent a little while longer over the meal planning and shopping this week and we’re now trying out a few new meals. Of course, as a family of four, these things never meet with everyone’s approval but I’ve found a couple of things that have proven to be hits. Phew!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share.

Linky opens at 6.30am Friday, to midnight on Sunday.

  1. Food sounds like a good choice of word! So easy to get into a rut with meals, isn’t it – I sometimes feel like that and finding new hits when trying different things for dinner is quite satisfying! Hope you have a lovely weekend and thank you for hosting #WotW 🙂

    1. It is, because it’s fastest to buy the same shopping without having to think about it and then cook on autopilot. It’s been good finding new things, and I’ll keep trying!

  2. Oooh flapjacks… yum! As for pick n mix for breakfast (technically – in the summer hols, sweets/choc for breakfast is a rule I think!… and when the cinema’s involved!) Thanks for hosting #wordoftheweek

    1. I’m not sure my comment makes any sense at all… what I was trying to say was that sweets at an early cinema showing is technically breakfast… which is a given at some point in the summer hols!!

  4. I think food is a good word of the week, I love any kind of food festival. Many moons ago we travelled to London to a Japanese Food festival which was absolutely amazing, not only the food but we experienced all things Japanese including music and tea ceremonies, it sparked our love of Japanese Food which has never waned, in fact we are having Chicken Katsu tonight for dinner.

  5. What a yummy word ? I can imagine the pick n mix not lasting, priorities all all that but hope you enjoyed the film nonetheless! I think we all can now and again get in a rut, not many like change but it is worth it to have something new and exciting to try and enjoy Z #wotw

  6. I love the food stalls at the shows, you get to try so many things you probably hadn’t thought of buying before. It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut with meals but it’s also hard to cater for all the families tastes isn’t it my lot are so fussy. #WotW

  7. We’ve been to the cinema too to watch BFG and Finding Dory 🙂 T loved both. Ours has been all about ticking off our summer bucket list 🙂 I know what you mean about food, I’m in the same boat. I need some inspiration food-wise 😉 #wotw.

  8. Food is my kind of word! Pic n mix is also another few! Yummy! We get in a bit of a rut with meals but all tried beef stew pie this week. Was fab! Hope you still enjoying the hols and thanks for hosting xx

  9. Sounds like you had better luck with the food at the event than I did. I wonder whether to buy the BFG wen it’s released and store it away for them for when they are older. We also get in a food rut here too. Great that you’ve been able to find some new things that tickle everyone’s tastebuds. Thanks for hosting #WotW

  10. I love country file I bet the show was fab, and I like to have a good meal planning shake up every now again. Its so easy to get into a rut isn’t it? WE are planning to see the BFG this week I am so excited ha ha, have a fab week x
