Word of the Week 1/12/17

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

I am enjoying this feeling while it lasts!

I am feeling ahead of the game with Christmas. It’s mainly just down to the fact that I have finished my shopping, which is a weight off my mind, even if it does mean that every nook and cranny in our house is filled with hidden presents! I don’t like wrapping, but I plan to enjoy a Christmas film or two over the next couple of weeks and get everything wrapped whilst watching them and feeling festive. I have my cards ready along with two boxes for the kids as they will want to send them to every classmate, so we have card-writing on the agenda for this weekend, which is something that we enjoy doing. The advent calendars are out today, the tree and decorations will go up this week, and I have on my calendar a busy looking month as we’ve got dates in to see family and friends to swap gifts and get together for some festive fun.

I like to keep ahead of schedule with my Open University work, to allow for unexpected things that might crop up, to take the pressure off me and because I do actually need to finish a fortnight ahead of timetable next May, as we’re going away at the end of that month when the final assignments are due in. So yes, it’s important to me to stay ahead, and fortunately this week I am feeling on top of things. I have written a couple of assignments for my AA100 module that aren’t due in until early next year and I’m in a position to write my second A332 assignment over the next week or so which is due in in mid-January. Please let this ‘ahead’ last!

And of course with the arrival of Advent, it seems to be all about counting down and looking ahead. The kids have plenty going on at school this month, so I’m sure it’ll fly by for them. I want to help them to savour the build up to Christmas Day, so that whilst they look ahead they can also enjoy every moment that they are in.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  1. Being ahead of things is such a nice feeling especially at this time of year when it can get so busy and stressful. I’m not as organised as you are, but I’m feeling a little more organised this year and it does help to ease the stress. Fingers crossed that you manage to stay ahead of the game so that you can get ready for your trip next May without feeling too much stress from the pressure of assignments. I love the way you want to make sure that the children enjoy the moments they are in while they are also looking forward to Christmas Day. Thanks for hosting #WotW and good luck with all the Christmas card writing this weekend.
