Word of the Week 20/4/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

With the kids now back to school, there was just one thing on my schedule this week, studying. I had cleared everything else out so that I could concentrate on my final two assignments, really get my head down and get them done. So what have I done? I have procrastinated, of course.

I think I am a little fearful that at this late stage, I might mess everything up that I have worked hard for. And so, I put it off in case it doesn’t go well. Foolish, I realise, and not really like me either.

So I did give myself a push mid-week and am delighted to say that I did manage to get one of them written, hooray! There’s just the big one left to get going on now. I can do it. I know it.

But on the upside, as I know I really should not waste an hour at this stage, my procrastination has been productive and fruitful. I wasn’t just lounging about watching TV!

I have completed my tax return already for this year, which makes me feel smug and is an important task out of the way. I have at last got round to sorting myself a pension again, as I’ve not had one since I gave up full time employment. I have got our currency for our holiday sorted. I have gardened and given the lawn its first mow of the year. I have arranged gifts and cards for several upcoming birthdays. I have ordered new uniform for the kids. I have enjoyed perusing Fashion World for a few last minute clothes for our holiday and managed to get some lovely sandals for Little Man there – thanks for the invitation, Fashion World! And I have written several blog posts so that when the urge to write my assignment strikes I can ignore all work.

I’ll get there. Next week’s word really needs to be ‘assignment’, or ‘done’!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share…

  1. Oh, I wish my procrastination looked as positive & productive as yours. Ha! When we know we have to do things – ie blocking out the time to do them – I think it is inevitable to procrastinate a little. It sounds like you are doing amazing with your studies, Jocelyn and I’m sure there’s no need for you to be second guessing your abilities. A lovely weekend to you and your family.

  2. You can do it!!! You are so close to the end of the studying….It sounds like you didn’t waste your time though. You seem to have got plenty done. When I procrastinate I browse FB or play Candy crush. lol x

  3. You can do it Jocelyn !, you are so close to finishing some worry is totally expected at this stage. It sounds like you have been super productive in all other areas too, I’m yet to do my tax return and I’ve normally done it by now. i’m sure by this time next week you will have that last assignment all wrapped up then you can go into full on holiday planning mode. Have a great weekend x

  4. Ooh not long now till your trip I bet you are all so excited, I love holiday prep its one of my favourite bits, all that planning a preparation feels like part of the trip. Good luck with the assignments I am sure they will be fab you are just second guessing yourself which is normal x

    1. We are very excited, and you’re right, the build up and planning is all a fun part of it. Thank you, we will soon see! x
