Win a Hobonichi Planner

The lovely folk over at Pocket Notebooks are offering one of my lucky readers the chance to win an A6 Hobonichi Techo Planner, and I am bursting to share more about it and get this competition under way so that the winner will have it in plenty of time to get organised for the new year.

Here it is, the planner from Japan with something of a cult following…

Hobonichi Techo Planner

This is A6 so its nice and lightweight and comfortable to carry around with you. It has lay-flat binding making it easy to open and work on.

Inside, at the bottom of each double page spread, are quotes for you to ruminate on and enjoy daily. The pages are made from Tomoe river paper, which feels smooth and thin in your hands, a bit like tracing paper only thicker, and so beautiful to write on.

There are month to view pages….

Then there are page a days…

A full page for each day, broken into segments if you choose to do so, only by the ’12’ and cutlery icons on the left. I like them, as they give me a feeling of structure, without being confined by them. Hobonichi’s are made for planning, doodling, thinking, journaling, drawing, scrapbooking, whatever suits you best.

At the back are several pages for notes and doodles, along with some general useful information such as holidays, size guides and so forth. There are are also a few pages about Japan which I enjoyed reading.

The verdict? I am in love. Officially in love. With the Hobonichi.

I’m looking forward to using it. I already know that I’m going to be stalking Hobonichi fan sites and IG accounts whilst I prepare to use mine. I feel like I’ve become somehow more stylish and current just by owning one!

  1. I love the fact that the paper is so fine but still allows the use of fountain pens, the size is great for an everyday carry – not too big to carry in a bag but plenty of room for all your daily, and diary needs. Lastly, the accessories that allow you to customise and personalise to your hearts content

  2. Such a change from the hurly burly of modern technology – nice to just stop and contemplate what is important and what is not.

  3. Love the fact you get a Page a Day – and inspirational quotes are always good to set you up for the day 🙂

  4. I first heard of the Hobonichi about a year ago and have coveted one ever since, I like the style of it, the size, the whole package really !! ?

  5. I like this planner because it is so versatile. I wouldn’t have to buy special stickers to fit in any boxes because the pages are lovely and blank and you can go to town with whatever you’d like to include with them. I already have a day to day diary but I would probably use this as some kind of journal and a way of remembering things my son has said that made me laugh plus keep a record of memories and days out. Such a lovely book and I’m fascinated with some of the ways people have used them!

  6. It is very tactile. I want to touch it! It has form and functionality. Extremely practical and well thought out. Very useful

  7. I can’t believe that it is A6 and a page a day! I have a fauxdori that this would fit inside nicely, off to have a look at these little planners in more details!

  8. I love that the pages can be used for drawing and sketching as well as writing. The paper is really high quality and will take fountain pen and paint as well as gel pen and biro so is perfect for artists as a visual journal as well as a regular diary.

  9. As someone who can never get himself organised, the planner seems ideal. Especially liking the less linear structure of the individual day page; the Hobonichi love page really shows its potential.

  10. I like the lay flat binding, makes it so much easier to use. I love the different layouts, with day and whole month views.

  11. I like the Tomoe River paper and the fact that you have a page a day to fill that’s not too big. Thanks for the chance to win!

  12. I love the way this planner is structured and organised and that it has a full page for each day.So many planners have a few lines for each day which is not enough.

  13. I think it looks great. I used to get the palgrave student planners because of how organising they were and the additional helpful info. This looks like it could be a great non-student replacement
