A Trip to Thomasland

Last week, I decided to take the children to Thomasland, without the Husband. I make this point, because I’ve not attempted to take the pair of them out to somewhere like this before alone, as Boo has a tendency to get excited and run off, and if Little Man’s free of the pushchair, he doesn’t tend to want to stay near me! As Drayton Manor can be pretty busy, it’s not ideal conditions for situations like this to arise. Then put on top of that the fact that I get motion sickness on rides, so their dad does that bit, and it doesn’t look like a great plan to go! But, the rather lovely BrummyMummyof2 was going and suggested we meet up, so I thought we’d give it a go!

We took a picnic, lathered up with sun cream and were away for the day! Boo was very excited, as she loves Thomasland and was also eager to meet and make new friends. It was sweet seeing the girls go on the rides together, and by the end of the day they were clearly ‘best friends’ and gave each other a big hug as we said goodbye. We went on several rides, many of which the little ones went on, too, ran about in the soft play, explored the zoo, had fun in the playground, took in the Dinosaur Trail and of course had to make a stop for ice cream – it’s obligatory, isn’t it?!

It turned out to be such a lovely day. The weather was fabulous, the company brilliant, and the children had a wonderful time. As did I, which wasn’t entirely expected, as I suspected the kids might stress me out, but no, they were fine! So much so, that we stayed at the park a little later on our own, and took a ride on Thomas, just the three of us, and had a lovely saunter back through the zoo, and Boo had to have one last go on a ride!

We bought a season pass, so we can go back as many times as we like before the Summer Holidays begin, and I can see us making the most of it and going practically every week. We are lucky, as it is just a 10 minute drive from us – very handy!

A wonderful day out, that we hope to repeat many times before Boo starts school. So, thanks to BrummyMummyof2 and her fab kids for tempting us out and keeping us company on a fun day 🙂

  1. LP hasn’t discovered Thomas yet, when both her and Little Man are aware of Thomas then Thomasland will be on our hit list of places to go! x

  3. I found when I had all 6 of mine tiny together I ofen went out with other Mums for support while Nick was here at the farm, somehow it sread the burden of them all on my own. Glad you had company and what a great place to visit. Don’t forget to put the link in for Country Kids.

    1. Yes, it so made a difference, and I only have the two! Yes, I’m linking this one up this coming weekend 🙂

  4. Looks like you’ve had such a nice day! We have never been to ThomasLand, but that seems to be a perfect day out for the children. x Mel

  5. We went last year and it was so much fun, my daughter loved Rosie and Thomas and we went on them several times. It is such a great place for old and young and the zoo is an added bonus. #magicmoments

  6. What a wonderful post Jocelyn. Sounds like after all the worry you had a really great day out. It looks awesome there, we’ve never been but it always seems such fun! Thanks for sharing with #whatsthestory

    1. Yes, it was lovely, Charly. And now that we’ve done it and loved it, we’ll be doing it again and again, I’m sure! Thanks for hosting x

  7. Looks like a really lovely day and well done for managing alone. It feels great when you do brave it and it all works out perfectly!

  8. Aw, JJ absolutely LOVES Thomas and his friends but I think Thomasland may be a bit of a major trek for us!! I’d love to have somewhere so pre-schooler friendly nice and close to home so that we could make use of an annual pass. Living the dream! 🙂

  9. It looks like such a grey place, my Eldest was a complete Thomas addict as a toddler and knew everything there was to know about the little trains he would have been beside himself in a place like this, such a shame it wasn’t around when he was that age. Lovely pics and well done for being brave enough to go solo!

    1. It’s great there. We’ve been quite a few times, though never without my husband before! It was great 🙂

  10. Glad the day worked out well. It could have gone either way, like you said. I have find memories of Thomas land, though we’ve usually been at Christmas for my son’s birthday. Think we might have outgrown it now though.

  11. My boys would have loved this when they were little being complete and utter Thomas fans. So glad it turned out to be such a fun day 🙂

PS – not unsurprisingly the gite has quite a lot of Thomas toys, books and games in it, much loved by all our young visitors!

    1. Boo loves to run about, especially somewhere as exciting as this, but it was a really fab day, even with the running! x

  12. Ooh a ten minute drive, I’d be there all the time, we’ve never been but it’s not too far, we could manage it for a day trip but I’m still a bit nervous about going that far away from our house with all three! Well done you for managing the day, Lucas is a runner so I sympathise! Little Man is looking grown up on that top picture xx

    1. We are lucky to be so close to it. I’d be nervous if I was you, too! Yep, she’s always been a runner, lots of chasing about! He really is growing up quickly now – still my baby, though 🙂 x

  13. Well done for giving it a go on your own! I have to admit I chicken out of places like this on my own, the thought of trying to keep track of all three of them… I would lose one of them for sure 🙂 Sounds like you had a wonderful day, and season passes are great for places like this, so worth it. #CountryKids

    1. Well, 3 is a whole new ball game, isn’t it?! It was great, and we’ll be back again tomorrow, weather allowing! x
