Over the weekend we were very busy organising and clearing out. Though Boo was very much involved in this (she is quite the adept shelf-maker and knows her way around our local tip now!), it’s not the most scintillating of weekends for the kids, so I decided to make it a little more interesting, and get us out into the fresh air. I’ve written before about how we don’t tend to bother with the garden unless it’s warm, but with Project Garden, I’m determined to get us out there more, so here we go!
While the Husband took the kids off to the tip, I grabbed the ten minutes to prepare a little activity for them. The kids have plenty of Happyland toys, which is handy as they’re pretty robust and easy to clean, so off they went into hiding in our garden..
The first had to be in her Fairy Garden, of course..
And then the others were dotted about in the mud kitchen, trampoline, rocks, herb garden – you see them!
It was introduced to Boo, on her return home, like this..
She was excited! Little Man hadn’t a clue what was going on, but happily donned his wellies and followed big sis outside anyway!
Once they had found them all, we celebrated the happy reunion with a little bubbles party!
And on coming back inside, Boo wanted to do it again, so we ended up having a further 5 house-hunts that afternoon!
Such a simple activity that I’d really recommend as it got us out enjoying the garden and a little bit of fresh air.
Love this idea, think I’ll turn our Happyland people loose too. Usually it’s the other way round & it’s me hunting for missing toy parts for the kids 🙂
Yes, do it – nice change!
Aww what a lovely idea! So simple but very cute and lots of fun. Great idea 🙂 xx
So simple, but honestly, Boo’s asked for it all day, every day since! Little Man gets it now, too, and delights in finding them 🙂
Oh I love this – Kitty and Ozzy would go mad for doing this. So simple too and the surprise element of ‘hang on what’s this note?’ is brill. I will be doing this here for sure – what a great way to get everyone out in the garden enjoying themselves. You clever sausage you 🙂
Thanks for joining in again and sharing – and inspiring!
It was all a bit spur of the moment, and it seemed as easy way to have a bit of fun in the garden. It’s been a huge hit! Thanks for hosting x
Great idea-inspired in fact! Will be pinching it at sone point once I’ve dealt with our standing water in the back!! Thank you 🙂
Yes, pinch away! Hope that water leaves you soon x
This is an adorable idea, we made a fairy garden last year, seems so boring compared to how you turned yours in to a Happyland hunt
Thank you. It’s an easy thing to do, and the kids love it x
I love this so much! I think the Happy Land toys are great, I’m so excited that we’ll soon be digging out Half Pint’s old stash and adding to it for Mini Milk…and I’m totally stealing this idea!
They last so well, and are so popular – both kids love playing with them. yes, steal away! x
This looks like so much fun! I’m going to give it a go too – and I’m sure M will love it. Thanks for the idea x
I’m sure he will – have fun! x
what a great, great idea! like an easter egg hunt but better!
Exactly! x
Great idea, and once our garden is no longer covered in snow, I’ll be stealing it 🙂
Lovely – have fun with it x
A great way to get some fresh air and has also given me an idea on how to get the children to tidy up the garden! #HDYGG
Ah, always handy then!
Great idea! I should try this with my little boy 🙂
Oh yes, do! Have fun x
Such a lovely, lovely idea and something I would never think of doing. Have tweeted the link to this as think more people should read the things you’re experiencing with your children – I want to hunt for Happyland in your garden too!! x
Ha ha – come by and I’ll set up a hunt for you! Thanks for sharing it x
What a wonderful idea – sounds like she had the best time! We did a similar thing for POD before Christmas (with the decorations!) and she loved it too. Boo looks so happy 🙂
Just read the post you’ve linked to as part of The Prompt, so sad but beautifully written. Your friend would be very very proud of you Mrs x
She loved it, and has done on every hunt since, & there have been many…!
And thank you xx
so wonderful!
Thank you

It was fun 🙂 Thanks x
OMG, Thats ACE! We may have to steal your idea, Lewis and Leah would love this! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, do steal it – lots of fun! x
The expression on Boo’s face says it all. Ab fab idea for the kids in the garden. I’m joining the queue to steal it too though I’ll have to find an alternative to Happyland folks.
Well, anything will do – anything random that won’t get harmed in the dirt!
What a fab idea! My boy would love this as he is very much into hiding at the moment – thanks for sharing #Countrykids
Thanks, and yes, it’s such a fun game for little ones 🙂
I love this idea! Even more so that it took so little planning and was so easy to set up. I might have to follow suit and try it too!
So easy, but I will warn you, Boo has asked to play this a million times since – it can get a little old…! 😉
ah, what a lovely game! so sweet x
Thank you x
What a great idea! I’m so doing this with Erin and her princesses!!!! xxx
It’s so easy and yet my children love it! Enjoy 🙂
Oh I LOVE this, and so would my girls! I think that’s a fabulous idea for a “get some fresh air quick” idea! Good for these rainy days when sunny spots are short and sweet! This will definitely be happening this week! Thanks for linking up to #SavouringtheSeason
Exactly – it’s a perfect ‘grab half an hour’ fresh air activity!
what a great simple fun idea! Love the look on Boos face!
Thanks for sharing #LetKidsBeKids
Just popping back from #LetKidsBeKids 🙂
Hello again!
What a fun idea! I particularly love the note, how sweet! If my garden was bigger (it is actually smaller than my bathroom…), I would do just that tomorrow. I think I will wait until we go to my mum’s in the summer. Her garden is huge, it will take them all day! Mel #LetKidsBeKids
Hope they have fun with it then!
Such a brilliant and simple idea! Thanks so much for sharing at the Outdoor Play Party. I’m looking forward to giving it a go with Little Man 🙂
Thanks – so easy, but lots of fun!
