The Pen Pal Sign Up

The Pen Pal Sign Up – June 2017

Earlier this year I ran my first pen pal sign up. Though I regularly run book and stationery swaps, this one was a bit different as this one was all about developing longer term friendships and I also found it took me a lot longer to put people together and administer! But it was worth it. I’ve had several people thanking me for the difference it has made to them and I myself now have several lovely new pen pals. Since running it I’ve had lots of people asking me to do one again, so here it is, just for Read more >

A Summer Of Reading Awaits!

On average, I’d say I read 4-6 books a month. But as summer looms, I can see my summer of reading beckoning me and I’m getting excited. As I study from September to June each year, I do have limited time to read, hence only getting through one book every few days to a week. Then as soon as my module finishes, my summer of books can begin. As I shared yesterday, I have just finished it, hooray! So here is my current to be read pile. I’d say this is actually around a third of the books I have to Read more >

disney planning bullet journal spread

Using a Bullet Journal to Plan for Disney World

There is much excitement here as we have decided that we are going to Disney World next year. So along with watching a lot of Disney vlogs, especially BrummyMummyof2’s as they’re friends of ours so the kids love seeing their pals exploring Disney, I thought I’d best start making some plans. Partly because it feels like the kind of holiday that requires some planning to get the most out of it, and partly because it’s fun to do! So I have taken to my bullet journal… I have popped two double page spreads in there dedicate to Disney planning. I Read more >

What To Write To Your Pen Pal

I regularly run pen pal sign ups here and share snail mail tips and Where to Find Pen Pals. So let’s assume that you are now all set and have a pen pal to write to. But the question is, what to write? Well, the first tip here is to be yourself. Just as when you meet a person face to face, be real as it’s the best way for a friendship to form. These are real friendships, as anyone who has been pen palling for a while will tell you, and just because you may be miles from one another and may Read more >

5 Reasons To Keep A Journal In Your Family Life

Today I am delighted to be bringing you a guest post from the lovely folks over at Say Nice Things Stationery… We humans have always kept written accounts of our everyday lives. Whether carved into tablets (the stone kind!), decorated on cave walls or painted onto parchment, we’ve always found a way to reflect and record events for the benefit of ourselves and others. More recently however, as the digital world begins to take over almost every aspect of our lives it’s easy to view the written word as out of date and old fashioned in an age of pixels, Read more >

Getting Started with Brush Lettering

Getting Started with Brush Lettering

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the Husband has decided to take up a new papery hobby, brush lettering. He’s always enjoyed typography, fonts, designing colour combinations, hand lettering and so on, so this does seem like a natural choice for him. For me, I admire it but I’m not a neat writer at the best of times so am not drawn to this one, though I have to say watching him practice and create does tempt me to have a go myself. Maybe when he’s out I’ll sneak a try! Anyway, if you fancy giving this a Read more >
