Save Money ‘Energy Shopping’

I do like to get the best deals that I can around here, as I’m sure you know. Shopping around for the best offers on anything from a present for the kids or a family holiday, to finding the best savings accounts and insurances, it’s all worth it and I do feel very happy when I manage to save us some money. Every little counts and all that, especially now that I’m at home with the children, and that lottery win I’ve felt sure was on the horizon for the last decade or two seems to continue to elude me!

You will find me popping to various voucher code sites before buying things and I have on my calendar the dates that various accounts and policies are up for renewal to remind me to shop around in readiness. One of those key bills for us, as I’m sure it is for you, is our energy. There’s a lot more to be saved by going energy shopping, but many of us don’t do it, whether that be that it’s just been overlooked, it feels like it’s too much hassle or it all seems a tad complicated. Apparently:

Go-Energy-Shopping– 33% of Brits are concerned about their energy bills

– and yet, 43% of Brits don’t prioritise shopping around for the best energy deal

– Savvy male shoppers save an average of £11 more than women a month

(Statistics from Ofgem press release)

Now fortunately, it’s never been easier to get a better deal for your energy and you could save around £200 a year – that’s a lot of money! A lot of people have been put off by the confusion around energy tariffs and switching, but now things have been made simpler, clearer and fairer, and you can find out more about these changes here. The Go Energy Shopping site includes comparison tools, a glossary of terms used on energy bills, links to useful sites, and a downloadable guide, so plenty to make it all easier to understand.

When was the last time that you shopped around for yours, or is this something that you do regularly?
