We were recently sent a new eco toy to explore, from The Toadstool, in our role as #ToadTesters.
I’d not seen Plus Plus before, the award-winning toys from Denmark. The Toadstool stocks lots of different types, from small packets to bigger packs and in a variety of colours, too. We received the Plus Plus Mini 220 Neon 3-in-1 set…
The Toadstool website tells us that:
Plus-Plus® is a new and award winning eco toy from Denmark which is hugely popular with schools and other institutions. The brightly coloured ‘plus’ shaped building elements can be made into 2D images or brought to life with 3D designs.
These are great for developing fine motor skills or for children who want something a little different to Lego.
This pack contains instructions for building 3 different models and is a fantastic introduction to the world of Plus Plus
220 x 20mm pieces
Non toxic plastic
Made in Denmark
Boo was eager to get playing with this set as soon as she saw it. On opening it, there’s a big pack of the Plus Plus pieces and a sheet with suggested creations that you can make..
The age guidelines are 3+, which I’d agree with, though I’d say that the instructions are too difficult for young children, and they aren’t that clear for adults either. Not that this really detracts from the toy, but perhaps a suggestion for improvement. Boo was interested in making her own patterns and models anyway, and the possibilities are endless.
It’s travelled round with her as she’s visited family, and we were playing with it in my mum’s garden over the weekend.
Whilst the adults were working on other projects…
And the Husband loved making the car!
They are very tactile little things, sturdily made and they do slot together and stay together really well. I do also love the pack that we have as the neon colours are bright and funky. This is the type of toy that can be popped in your bag and taken anywhere, and will then happily occupy children and adults alike! It has hours worth of play time and is great quality, so no wear and tear issues either. I have to say the thing that surprised me most about this toy is the price, at less than £10, I think that it represents great value.
I’ve been really impressed with this one, and am pleased to have been introduced to the Plus Plus world!
Disclosure: We were sent this FOC for the purposes of this review. All words and opinions remain my own.
I like the look and sound of these. I’d be really interested to see what my son would make of them (and I know my eldest would find them very appealing!)
Come over and test them out! Boo loves them and I’ve just ordered several packs for birthday gifts for others, too – they’re fab! X
wow this looks brill. my boy would have hours of fun playing with this (as would i!) lovely little kit that wont break the bank, im sold! #TriedTested
It’s really good. As you say, hours worth of creations – I’ve bought a pile ready for presents!
We love Plus Plus here, got Monkey some of the Neon colours for Christmas. These instructions are better than the ones that come with other packets, but could still do with a better step by step guide couldn’t they. #TriedTested
They look fab…..I’ve never seen them before! They look so much fun!
No, I’d never seen them either – I love them!
Wow, that looks loads of fun. Never seen anything like that before Popping over from http://www.mummy2monkeys.co.uk via #TriedTested
No, I hadn’t , but they are really good!
Great review, I just love our Plus Plus and it is so handy to take out. You’re right though, instructions were a bit tricky for me, wouldn’t be a problem to do your own spin on them expect I’m a weirdo and want to do it ‘the right way’ 🙂
Ha ha – it’s tricky to do so with those instructions! Great toy, though. We love it here 🙂
Have heard a lot of good things about Plus Plus, definitely going to give it a try I think! Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
It’s so simple, yet so versatile. Thanks for hosting x
I’d play with that myself, looks great. #tried&tested
It is, and I do!
These look great Jocelyn and certainly something my six year old would probably enjoy!
Oh yes, I’d have thoughts so -they’re easy to get in to!
I think my kids would love this, it’s certainly a bit different and looks fun x
Yes, I’d not seen them before, but they are great
I love the look of these, I think even my 11 year old would like them 🙂
Oh yes, one for all ages – I play with them!
