Not The Christmas We’d Hoped For…

It hasn’t been the Christmas of our dreams. Unfortunately, Boo came down with a sickness bug on the night before Christmas Eve, that saw her off to the emergency doctors on the night of Christmas Day, just hours before Little Man started being violently sick. The Husband fell foul of it yesterday, and though I’ve yet to succumb, it does feel kind of inevitable…They all look pale, exhausted, and our happy, fun-packed plans have gone by the way-side.

The only ray of sunshine here, was that fortunately, Boo managed to perk up a little for present-opening on Christmas morning, though she was up for over an hour before she even moved towards them – a sure-sign she felt bad.

Little Man was overjoyed to discover some In The Night Garden toys in his present pile, and if you read my Little Man’s First Love post, you wouldn’t be surprised by this!

And of course, though we’ve now been confined to the house for days, we’ve had plenty to keep us occupied! Amongst other things, Boo’s had Lego Friends, books, DVDs, games, and crafty and colouring kits galore! This ball track has proved popular, too..

Little Man’s Brio train track, with Janod Funny Magnets scattered about to ‘guard it’, is a huge hit with Boo, and I’m hoping it will be with him, too, in a couple of months when he’s old enough to appreciate it (he loves watching the trains go round, and then loves destroying the track!). She has played with it for hours and hours, which has been lovely to see.

Boo also has her first ever kite that she’s desperate to get out and fly, so fingers crossed we’ll manage to get out soon and enjoy some fresh air with that.

Hope everyone else has had a good one?

  1. What a real shame. Disappointing all round, I’m sure. Sorry to hear that. In ensuing years I expect you’ll be grateful of the peace you had THIS Christmas 😉 XX

  2. Oh no! That is very sad! They do still look like they are enjoying their new toys thankfully. Still vetting your little man for a future husband for the Girl (of course), and am pleased to see he likes In the Night Garden – she has yet to watch an episode as generally the Boy is in control of the TV watching program, but she has found an In the Night Garden book in our collection and wants it read to her over and over. She keeps pointing at Iggle Piggle and saying: “Teddy!”

    1. Ah, this arrangement sounds more and more perfect all the time! Little Man’s obsession actually started with a book, too, and then I introduced him to the show – his world was complete! X

    1. Thank you – not the best. It happens, I suppose! The kids are getting back to normal now and enjoying their new toys 🙂

    1. Thank you. Hoping it’s gone now, though I’ve still escaped it so far so it may well get me just in time to take out New Year, too! X

  3. Sorry to hear that lovely, sickness bugs have been rife this Xmas 🙁 Sounds like you still managed to have a decent time anyway though and the kids clearly loved all their pressies!

We’re fortunate in that we had the dreaded bug a few weeks ago, and stayed healthy over the festivities. Had a fab week, even though sleep went out the window again gggrrrrrr… there’s always something when there are little people involved.

Here’s to a better start to the New Year honey xx

    1. So frustrating, especially as I’d kept Boo out if preschool in the run up to avoid getting any bugs – typical!
How annoying that sleep’s gone wrong again, especially as you thought you’d cracked it. Hope they’ll get back to normal again soon xx

  4. Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that, what a shame 🙁 I will keep everything crossed that you don’t get it too. I’m glad that the kids managed to enjoy their presents, and I hope everyone is fighting fit soon x

  6. aww sorry to hear you were all so poorly, rubbish and not what you want over Christmas! I was convinced one of us was going to get poorly over Christmas but somehow we managed to get through illness free, though I have a rotten cold now. Hope you are all back to normal and having fun now!

    1. Thank you. It was frustrating, especially as I’d taken Boo out of preschool at the start of Dec to prevent her catching anything – typical! All ok now x

  7. We had a violent sickness bug the sun/Mon before Christmas. Me, hubby and 4yo in same night. Was horrid. Luckily we felt ok for Christmas day. However i was worried then about 6yo getting it. Lucky thing missed out thankfully. Sorry to hear you were poorly for Christmas. 🙁 looks like the children made the best of it. X

  8. Sorry to hear it wasn’t the Christmas you had hoped for. Looks like the little ones had a great time though. Thanks for linking up at #ShareItSundays x

  9. So sorry you were ill over Christmas! Nevertheless looks like they loooved the toys. We got a Makka Pakka fan here to, the plush looks much better then the IgglePiggle one in my opinion. Where did you get it from?

Lovely that you can show that girls love wooden trains and play with them hours in a row too! You can never go wrong with wooden train track for toddlers and pre-schoolers I think! Once out of the cupboard they play with it for hours/days in a row!

    1. Thanks. He does love that Makka Pakka! I ordered him from the ITNG show shop. He’s very cuddly!
And yes, hours and hours and play are being had with the trains. Boo loves them, and especially loves that new station we bought from you where she can record her own announcements! Little Man likes it, but is a little too young yet to be engrossed, but I doubt it’ll be long before they’re both playing with it together 🙂
