My Valentine – Baker Days Cake Review

I don’t write much about the Husband. He pops up in photos sometimes, and gets mentions, but he’s never the centre of attention here. This suits him. He’d rather not be. But, for this post, I’m making it all about him, because he deserves it.

He’s THE best husband and father in the world. I’m sure of it. He’s my best friend, my soulmate, my confidante and my rock. He supported me when I was climbing the corporate ladder, he supported me when I decided to jump off it and stay at home with Boo, he supported me starting up my business, and he now supports my blogging. He doesn’t get involved in any of these things, he doesn’t need to, but I know that he’s there behind me.

This blog has given us opportunities. The children have been very fortunate to receive some lovely things that I’ve written about, I’ve had the odd treat, and of course, I get the enjoyment that blogging brings me. But so far, he’s not had much, personally. So, when Baker Days got in touch to offer us the chance to review one of their cakes, I knew this was one for him. He absolutely loves chocolate cake!

It arrived at the weekend, so he was around to open it and reveal..

cake1Love that it comes with balloons, candles and a party blower, too. On opening the tin, we found..

cake2Fabulous! I do love the third instruction on the tab ‘remove bag and devour with great gusto’ – oh, OK, if we must!

cake6It looked so pretty, and I love the squiggled heart. It felt fairly heavy, so I suspected it was packed full of chocolatey goodness..

cake5And I was right! The Husband gave it a big thumbs up, and I have to say I’m not overly keen on chocolate cake, as I tend to find it a little dry, but this is good cake! It’s really moist and moreish, and the icing is delicious – a fair bit was eaten quickly! And then to keep it fresh (though I admit it wasn’t back in there for long!) we popped it back into it’s lovely tin, which I think is really handy, and I love the design and will be keeping it for another purpose 🙂

I think as a valentine’s gift, it’s a fabulous idea. It’s a gesture, a treat, and something a little different. Along with lots of valentine designs, they do cakes for birthdays and then so many other occasions, of different sizes and different flavours – you can choose from chocolate chip, sponge cake, fruit cake, dairy free and gluten wheat free. You can choose from stacks of designs, personalise them, add photos or design your own. There’s a free delivery option, where you need to allow 7 days for delivery, all the way through to a next-day delivery before 9.30am, if you’ve left it a bit late, though of course you’ll pay more for this. Cakes by post, a great idea 🙂
