Little Man Forgives Boo

I’m fortunate, I know, as my children are the very best of friends. Never has that been more apparent than in the moment that I’m going to share today.

loving siblings

You know that half an hour before the kids go up and you get the bedtime routine under-way? It’s always a little chaotic in our house, is it everywhere? The kids are tired, but feeling playful as Daddy is home and they’re free of the dinner table. So madness tends to reign.

Boo likes to play with the throw, and it’s often a cape or such-like. I’d rather she didn’t, as I can only see it ending badly, and one of the children tripping over it. Of course, I’m often right…!

She ran giggling with it into the hall the other night. The hall with the hard, wooden floor. Little Man stepped onto it, excited to be stamping all over it. And then, yes, you see where this is going, don’t you?, she quickly ran off with it, taking Little Man clean off his feet in the process and landing on his face. Cue lots of crying. She was put on the step, and was also sobbing.

When Little Man calmed down a little, he pulled back from my cuddles and looked about. He spotted his big sister, still crying on the step. He kicked his little feet to indicate to me that he wanted me to put him down, and as soon as his toes touched the floor, he scampered out into the hall to Boo and opened his arms up to envelop her in a hug. It was so utterly adorable, selfless and sweet. Unconditional sibling love at it’s finest. And, of course, as soon as he did this, Boo stopped crying and smiled through her tears and hugged him tightly back. I was the only one still tearing up…

  1. That is lovely isn’t it, no wonder you were a bit emotional yourself. Neither of my two like to see each other crying, even if it’s one of them who are the cause of the tears in the first place 🙂

  2. Oh bless him, I remember when my 2 were like that. They’re getting older now so the attitudes are coming into play, but when the rare moments of unconditional sibling love is noticed, it melts me heart #magicmoments

  3. This is so sweet I almost cried. Man I am a softy lately. So beautiful. Forgiving and selfless completely. What a great sibling moment, definitely a magic moment. Thank you for sharing. Loved it. #magicmoments #whatsthestory

  4. How sweet he forgave her and cheered her up. How come she was on the step, though ? I take it you mean one of the naughty step things ? As you know I’m only a dog mum so I was clueless there !!

  5. Oh my word Jocelyn what a wonderful story, almost brought a tear to my eye. It’s such an easy thing to do isn’t it. How lovely that Little Man went to Boo though, that’s just fabulous. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatsthestory

  6. Oh bless him!! LP is gradually hugging and kissing Little Man more and being nice to him more often than not but he has idolised her from the start – Staring at her lovingly and kicking his legs in excitement when he sees her!
Our late afternoons are always a bit chaotic too! x

  7. I am so darn emotional right now.. having read through some of these posts and now this one, damn! Thats one of the sweetest things! My two are quite close and when the baby hurts himself, my 6 year old cries too because of his pain. Kids really are amazing. Love this!

  8. Awww, how sweet! Seeing the love between your children is quite simply the best reward you can get as a mum. I really hope my little ones grow up to become best friends. x Mel

    1. You’re absolutely right. I love watching them together and I know how much my brother means to me, and see the same bond developing with them x
