Let’s Go Shopping Peppa!

First up, I will declare that we are a Peppa Pig loving household. Yes, there it is, and I don’t just mean the kids, I like it, too. I find the show and books to be sweet, despite having watched and read so many of them so many times! So when I heard that there was a new book out from Ladybird, the story of one of Little Man’s favourite episodes, I was happy to share…

Peppa Pig: Let’s Go Shopping Peppa!

Peppa and her family need something to eat for lunch. It’s time for a trip to the supermarket! Mummy Pig is very keen on just getting the things on her shopping list, but when they get to the checkout, something else has appeared in the trolley…

Peppa Pig: Let’s Go Shopping Peppa! by Ladybird out now in paperback, £6.99

This is a large paperback picture book, and fun and brightly illustrated. If this is an episode that you have seen, then you’ll find that the book stays true to it throughout. I like the big, colourful pages, broken up with little blocks of text dotted over each one.

It’s actually quite wordy for a picture book, making it an interesting and challenging read for my 5 year old and a good length bedtime story for my 2 year old.

Both of my children enjoy this one, so much so that they couldn’t settle on who it would belong to so it’s gone into the playroom bookshelf rather than their individual ones in their bedrooms – nice and fair! It’s sure to be a hit with any Peppa Pig fans.

Our book also came with a fun shopping list, which encouraged Little Man and I to get out and about with Peppa…..

I’d recommend, in an ideal world, shopping alone! But if needs must, these are my top tips for shopping with a toddler..

My Top 5 Tips for Shopping with Children

– Be prepared with your own list. You want to be as organised and as slick as you can in there.

– Take refreshments. It prevents any major meltdowns and provides a handy distraction.

– Build in the added treat of browsing the toy/book aisle. My two are always happy to pop to the shops when they know that at the end of it they can look at books and toys.

– Get the children involved in looking for what you need. When we go with my 5 year old, she likes to help me write the shopping list, and is then keen to find things in the shop. The 2 year old is a little trickier as he gets distracted from the task quite easily!

– In the case of little ones who are still in the trolley, take along books and activities with you for them to look at whilst you shop.
