‘If I Could…’

In my head, this is called the Walter Mitty post. You know, the eternal daydreamer, living life through many different guises, though all in his head?

I will kick off by saying, though, that unlike Walter, I am actually happy with my life! So accepting that in reality, there’s no-one I’d rather be, or nowhere I’d rather be than right here with my family, this is just a little bit of daydreaming….

If I could live anywhere:

I’m thinking Paris. Whilst I’m tempted by sunshine as I do love the summer, I suspect that I’d miss frosty mornings and wrapping up snuggly and warm. So Paris it must be. I adore it there, the architecture, the culture, the people, the history. Oh, to stroll around the Musee D’Orsay every weekend. Ah, to dream.

If I could have any home:

It would be a big period property, with huge windows and lots of light. I love my open plan kitchen diner so I’d want something like that again. I’d love a room for a home office, and for the kids to each have huge bedrooms, along with a playroom. So yes, it’d be the lottery win!

If I could have any garden:

Walled, definitely walled. With rambling paths, archways to secret sections and roses, colours and scents assailing me from all angles. A little summer house tucked away, perhaps with jasmine and wisteria trailing over it, for me to sneak off to and read. Perfect.

If I could be on holiday right now:

I’d want to be in Las Vegas. With a huge amount of spending money for shopping, food and the casinos. I’d spend hours lazing by the pool and relaxing, then hit the shops and casinos every night. We’ve been a few times, but not since having the children and I’m starting to miss it!

Las Vegas

If I could have any job:

This is a tricky one. I’d lean towards writer, but I know I haven’t got it in me and then I like the idea of working with flowers and gardens, but suspect I’m too lazy for the hard graft involved! I do like the idea of working as a curator of a museum or castle, so perhaps that would be my ideal.

If I could have any talent:

Hmm, this is a tough one as I have very little talent in any area, so it’s a case of deciding which one to go for! I’d quite like to dance, I think. You know, be able to get up on that stage and dance like Baby Houseman?

If I could live any day again?

So obviously my wedding day and the births of my kids spring to mind here. But actually, it’s not any of those that I’d go for. I’m going for the first day of a holiday that we had a few years ago. We were in Santa Monica with my brother and his wife, we got up and went to Bubba Gump’s on the pier for breakfast, then strolled round Santa Monica, Venice beach and ended up with a meal and cocktails on Third Street Promenade in the evening. It was that perfect first day of a long and eagerly awaited holiday feeling, gorgeous sunshine, a beautiful and fun place, and we were all so happy and relaxed. Loved it.

If I could have any superpower:

Teleportation. Without hesitation. I’d love to be able to travel the world without the cost or the travel sickness!

    1. I love it there, having been several times. The last time we went we tied it in with LA, Palm Springs, San Diego and the OC and it was a fabulous trip. Oh, and I dream of that walled garden…! xx

  2. Love this post – thank you so much for tagging me in it and will have to join in when I get a moment. I love Paris too and your dream garden sounds idyllic. Teleportation would be a great superpower to have – so much easier than having to travel in the normal way! 🙂
