Girls Trip!

Boo and I haven’t had a girls trip since Little Man arrived. That’s quite a while. Yes, we have time together when he naps where we get up to our own activities, but it’s not really the same. Of course, until Little Man came along, every day, every outing was a ‘girls trip’, but I wanted to have a little special one on one time with my daughter, so we had some fun together yesterday.

She wanted to go to the cinema. She’s been a few times before, with the Husband and with her grandparents, but not with me, so I was looking forward to it as much as she was! We went to see Frozen, and I’d definitely recommend it. I’m always wary of Disney offerings, as they tend to favour some sort of parental abandonment storyline, which invariably has Boo in floods of tears, but all was well with this one! OK, so the parents did die at the start (not really a spoiler there – you knew it was coming!) but it was glossed over quite quickly and I’m not sure that Boo even caught that storyline fully. After that is was magical, funny and with a lovely soundtrack. We giggled throughout and I suspect I’ll be buying this one for her when it’s out on DVD. If you’re looking for something to to take the kids to this month, this is a good one 🙂

She was totally enraptured as soon as the lights went down – even throughout the adverts! And around halfway through the film, she decided it would be nicest to watch it from my lap, so we had cuddles, too 🙂

Back home, Daddy and Little Man had been having their own fun, but were happy to have us home, especially as we’d stopped off to buy some cakes for us all on the way back. Boo thoroughly enjoyed our trip, and I felt great having had a little mother, daughter time.

    1. Thank you – she loves the cinema. It was great for me to be able to take her – definitely a treat we’ll be repeating in the new year 🙂

    1. Definitely – we’ll be doing it again soon, as we both enjoyed it. Yes, great film – we’ll be looking out for it on DVD!

  1. It must have been so nice for the two of you to go out together. She looks mesmerised by Frozen in that photo and it sounds like you both had fun. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatsthestory

  2. Oh that’s lovely hon. So nice to spend time with just one of the kids when you have more… I think four is a great age, as they’re still easily pleased and a trip to the cinema is such a big deal to them. Might have to check this film out over the holidays #MagicMoments

  3. You are bringing them up nicely 🙂 That’s a sweet thing to have done for both of you. These moments she’ll remember when she’s older with great fondness.

    1. Thank you. Such a lovely comment, and I really hope you’re right. Love to think we’re creating stacks of happy memories for her x

  4. It’s so lovely to get some one on one time. I used to take my oldest to the cinema quite often in the UK, it was our thing, bit it’s not so easy here… Must get to see Frozen though 🙂 Glad you had such a lovely day! #WhatstheStory #MagicMoments

  5. I was just talking about this film with my husband this evening…partially wondering if it was any good. Now I know we need to take the kids. (Problem is there are no big cinemas near us showing kids films….)

  6. You can’t beat one-on-one time with the big sibling once the younger ones come along, and we LOVE the cinema too! Thanks for the recommendation for Frozen, my 7 year old is desperate to see it too, so I’ll have to get a date in the diary for it.
